Lesson # Prov. 5:12-14 Study Material - Prov. 5:12-14 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Prov. 5:12-14 12 And you say, 'How I have hated instruction! And my heart spurned reproof! 13 'And I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to my instructors! 14 'I was almost in utter ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation.' Why does the person suffer in pain, in mental and physical misery from verses 9-11? Because they did not listen to instruction. Young people who think they know it all, who are impatient for things to happen in their lives, have a rude awakening ahead of them. They watch all the TV shows where life passes in the space of a half hour, or in during a 2 hour movie. Events on the screen happen quickly. Battles are won or lost. The underdog wins against impossible odds. The hero gets the girl. People live happily ever after and so forth. Young people are bombarded with a constant barrage of propaganda and twisted realities. It is a wonder they get confused when they really meet with the truths in life. They want to be independent and sometimes young people never grow up. Even in their 30's, and 40's and 50's and up, they rejected doctrine. They dealt with life in a confrontational way. Their jobs never work out. Their marriages never work out. Even the dog doesn't like them. Life is really bad when your pet doesn't like you. But it is their own doing. The negative person makes their own misery. They reject the idea of being responsible for their own decisions and actions. They get depressed easily. They suffer anxieties. Their frustrations rise and fall like the tides. Their emotions swing in wide arcs and they blame everyone else for their problems. There is always an excuse for why they suffer or fail, and it is never their own fault. And the foundation for all this is found inside their attitude. They rejected instruction. They were unteachable. Never wanting to be taught, because they know it already. Never listening, because they get bored with instruction. Impatient with others because they see themselves as superior to their peers. The negative person is always on the hunt for the shortcut to fame and fortune, or they fantasize their next big score. Yet the reality is that they are just lazy bums with all talk and no action. With their six pack at their finger tips, and the remote control in hand. Complaining or criticizing the rest of the world to anyone who will listen, or just to the wall paper if no one is around. They are experts in their own minds, with no basis for their knowledge, but just more fantasy in their thinking. Such is the life of the negative person. Eventually their life will turn sour. Certainly they might have some successes. There are always successes in the jungle, but sooner or later a bigger or younger animal will come along and devour the negative person. Wits and abilities are limited in the jungle of life. Without Bible doctrine there is no mechanism for counteracting the jungles impact on oneself. Time and the aging process take their toll eventually. So when the negative person has rejected truth for a long time, and finally wake up to their problems and enter into the congregation, the assembly of Bible doctrine, they are full of rot in their soul. Sometimes that rot is religious ritual, sometimes it is bitterness and hate. Sometimes it is worry and fear and anxiety. Life led by the sin nature manifests itself in a million ways. The self righteous think they know best. The crusader thinks that their way is the only way. The criminal thinks that he can take as he pleases. The apathetic just do not care and see no importance in God. All these reject truth. All these are led by arrogance in that they follow their own set path rejecting the possibility of an alternative. They may be lazy bums on the street. They may be Ph D's with hi IQ's. They may be anyone in between, rich or poor. The instruction rejected in not academic instruction, but Bible doctrine. This may overflow into academic rejection as with the school drop outs, or problem teenagers, but it can also be with top students who reject God. When a person comes to God after a life of rejecting Him, his soul is full of human viewpoint and worldliness. They are in utter ruin spiritually. They only path back from this oblivion, is a program of Bible study. And it will not happen in the space of just 30 minutes, but may take many months or even years, depending on the consistency and faithfulness to the study But then why get stuck in this pit anyway? Simply by studying your Bible regularly, your life will be blessed, and the problems which will still be thrown at you from life will seem small and more than manageable. 
Now is the time to post a prayer. End Of Lesson Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth. |
