Prov. 3:19-20
19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens. 20 By His knowledge the deeps were broken up, And the skies drip with dew.
Here we are introduced to three levels of comprehension which exists in our minds, or rather there is the potential of three levels of comprehension. These come from God of course. There is also given a chronology of events as well.
First, by wisdom, 'cokmah', the Hebrew word for wisdom or knowledge possessed. God has possession of all the facts, all the possible repercussions, all the possible causes and effects. God knows the infinite possibilities. He knows all the details concerning the function of atoms, of those little DNA critters, of everything in existence. Based on His total and complete knowledge, His wisdom and the decision process to determine the best course for all of history, from the beginning of angels, the creation of the universe, the creation of mankind, God set out and did in accordance with His wisdom and decisions made in eternity past.
By understanding, 'towbunah', by reason and understanding, by application of wisdom. This is the taking of wisdom and applying it to a decided process. We all learn the alphabet, which gives us the basic tools for talking, writing, communicating. But basic knowledge does not make us a writer of novels, or poetry. That takes more learning and knowledge, until we possess a complete understanding of the alphabet, vocabulary, concepts, and thought. Once we learn these things, then we are able to apply our possessed knowledge to life by writing and communicating and such. The more we learn the more we are able to apply. If we learn math, then we can add. If we learn the higher levels of math, then we can understand concepts of motion, flight, volumes and such. But we have to learn the basics first, then the advanced levels of knowledge in any given field. God possesses all knowledge, and He possesses them completely and thoroughly. Everything in science we discover, God knew in eternity past. And from His wisdom, and from His understanding of wisdom, He applied that knowledge to the process of creation, which, by the way, was instant, not evolutionary.
By wisdom, God founded, 'yacad', by counsel, by the settling of agreement. God was in agreement. He settled in His decision of what or which course in history to take. These are the decrees of history. God considered all the possibilities of history. Perhaps he could have considered us to be creatures of stone, rather than flesh, and He rejected that course of history. When He finished considering all the possibilities of historical events, when and where each of would be born in time, then He settled on the one course of history He would initiate. Which is where we are right now. From Lucifer, to Satan, to dinosaurs, to Adam, to us today. This is the decision God made together with the other members of the Godhead. The Father, Son, and Spirit all agreed on the final decrees of history.
By understanding He established, 'kuwn', to prepare, to setup, to erect. God possessed all the fundamental details of knowledge, He knew and understood every component and every possible interaction and combination. He made a decision after considering all the possibilities. Then He established, He took action and created angels, the universe, and mankind, etc.
By knowledge, 'da`ath', by instruction, by designation, by wit, by cunning. God made the correct decision to divide, to break up, 'baqa', to tear apart, to rip apart, to make into pieces, to cut out, these are the words that describe the establishing of the structure of the oceans, and the bringing of rain from the skies.
The oceans were originally one great ocean, and God decided to break it up into the oceans we now have. By the same token, I believe that the continents were at one time one single continent, which were broken up into the present continental structure we now have. I think this all occurred in the flood of Noah.
What does this all have to do with us? We need to learn doctrine, word by word, line by line, precept by precept. We build on what we know. We build on what we have learned in the past. Knowledge does not come instantly, but over the entire period of our life. As a new believer, and we could be a new believer at the age of 12, or at 70. Our chronological physical age is irrelevant. Our spiritual age begins at our rebirth, at the moment we believed in Christ. From there we eat spiritual food and grow up from that diet. Some never grow because they never partake of a diet of daily study of Bible doctrine. They remain spiritual babies all their lives. Others study, and grow, and advance to spiritual maturity. They learn the basics. They apply what they know to life. They make mistakes and learn from their mistakes. They study more and learn more. They memorize verses, they learn concepts of doctrine. Sooner or later they stop thinking of specific little things that pertain to themselves, but begin to look at the bigger picture of doctrine in their lives and in their history. They stop worrying about life from pay check to pay check, but start enjoying life from day to day and allow life to move past them as they begin to view it rather than being caught up in it. In life we take what we know, we weigh our options, we make decisions, and we act, and our actions contain ongoing manipulations of our plan as it unfolds. Just as God did and has done.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
