Obadiah 1:19-20
19 And they of the south [negeb] shall possess [yarash] the mount [har] of Esau [Esav]; and they of the plain [shaphelah] the Philistines [Palishtiy]: and they shall possess [yarash] the fields [sadeh] of Ephraim [Ephrayim], and the fields [sadeh] of Samaria [Shomarown]: and Benjamin [Binyamiyn] shall possess Gilead [Gil`ad]. 20 And the captivity [galuwth] of this host [cheyl] of the children [ben] of Israel [Yisra'el] shall possess that of the Canaanites [Kana`aniy], even unto Zarephath [Tsaraphath]; and the captivity [galuwth] of Jerusalem [Yaruwshalaim], which is in Sepharad [Capharad], shall possess [yarash] the cities [iyr] of the south [negeb]. KJV-Interlinear 19 Then those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, And those of the Shephelah the Philistine plain; Also, they will possess the territory of Ephraim and the territory of Samaria, And Benjamin will possess Gilead. 20 And the exiles of this host of the sons of Israel, Who are among the Canaanites as far as Zarephath, And the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Will possess the cities of the Negev. NASB
The long and short of all of these locations is that Jerusalem will be sent into exile one day, but by the grace of God they will return. When they do, all those who were a party to their suffering either actively or passively, will lose everything and Jerusalem will gain back not only what it lost, but it will gain everything that its enemies will lose.
So where are all of these places?
The Negev is an unidentified and undefined region generally located in southern Israel of today. West of the Dead Sea and to the south.
Edom, the descendants of Esau, is located to the east and south of the Dead Sea. Opposite the Negev which is to its west.
Shephelah is the region along the western coast in southern Israel which we now know as the Gaza Strip. It is also called the Philistine plain.
Ephraim and Samaria refer to the general region between the Dead Sea north to the Sea of Galilee and west of the Jordan River to the Mediterranean.
Benjamin is a narrow region touching the northern end of the Dead Sea and extending west half way to the Mediterranean.
Gilead is the region to the east of the Jordan, and opposite of Samaria, between the Dead Sea northward to the Sea of Galilee.
Zarephath is along the northern Mediterranean coast of Israel and southern Lebanon
Sepharad refers to scattered unidentified regions in distant foreign lands or in outlying regions.
The lands of Judah, as known by Obadiah, though lost to invaders, will be recovered to their former boundaries and even those boundaries will be expanded to include the regions surrounding the nation of Judah.
Jerusalem will expand to the south into the unidentified region called the Negev, and to the east across the Jordan River into the land of Edom and beyond.
It will also recover and seize the regions formally known as the Northern Kingdom, or Samaria, or the place of the Ten Tribes who were invaded by the Assyrians, and also the lands eastward into Gilead. What we know now as present day Jordan. As well as the lands even further north into Lebanon.
The new Jerusalem is further described in Rev. 21:16 as a city descending out of the clouds measuring 1500 miles in all directions (length, width, and height). A giant cube city covering nearly all of the middle east, and even extending into outer space. It will be an interesting city to say the least.
Believers, believers who are spiritually mature, and who have survived the worst era in human history, the Tribulation, will come from all over the world to the restored Israel in the Millennium, and to occupy the new Jerusalem.
All of the want-to-be's, the negative people of history, the negative people of the Tribulation, will not be there. They will have lost everything and as Obadiah stated earlier, none of them will survive the judgment of the Second Advent - the Day of the Lord.
How does this affect you? If you are a positive believer and are advancing in your spiritual life, then whatever you lose in life (you lose everything when you die), then your loss will be restored and then some. Actually quite a bit more.
If you are negative and otherwise not advancing in your spiritual life, then you will lose out in life (when you die) and you will never recover anything.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
