Study Material - Leviticus 7:11-21
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Lev. 7:11-21
11 'Now this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings which shall be presented to the LORD. 12 'If he offers it by way of thanksgiving, then along with the sacrifice of thanksgiving he shall offer unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil, and cakes of well stirred fine flour mixed with oil. 13 'With the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving, he shall present his offering with cakes of leavened bread. 14 'And of this he shall present one of every offering as a contribution to the LORD; it shall belong to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offerings. 15 'Now as for the flesh of the sacrifice of his thanksgiving peace offerings, it shall be eaten on the day of his offering; he shall not leave any of it over until morning. 16 'But if the sacrifice of his offering is a votive or a freewill offering, it shall be eaten on the day that he offers his sacrifice; and on the next day what is left of it may be eaten; 17 but what is left over from the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burned with fire. 18 'So if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings should ever be eaten on the third day, he who offers it shall not be accepted, and it shall not be reckoned to his benefit. It shall be an offensive thing, and the person who eats of it shall bear his own iniquity. 19 'Also the flesh that touches anything unclean shall not be eaten; it shall be burned with fire. As for other flesh, anyone who is clean may eat such flesh. 20 'But the person who eats the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings which belong to the LORD, in his uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from his people. 21 'And when anyone touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, or an unclean animal, or any unclean detestable thing, and eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings which belong to the LORD, that person shall be cut off from his people.'
Here is the continuation of the law of the 'Peace' offering from chapter three. This offering emphasizes the reconciliation with God. Peace in the singular is 'shalom', but here it is in the plural, 'shelamim'. There is a dual peace as a result of the work of Christ on the Cross. The first is the peace received from salvation. This peace is the knowledge that one will not be going to the lake of fire, that the one believing in Christ is saved and will be destined to heaven when he dies and departs this life on earth. The second peace from its plural meaning, is the peace with God. This is in reference to spiritual growth to the point of maturity to achieve the peace of God, or His rest as is often stated in the Bible.
There are basically two categories attached with this offering - thankfulness and votive. The thank offering is an expression for a past blessing bestowed on the believer, therefore the thanks of the believer is offered to God. The votive is an expression of a wish or desire by the believer for some future blessing. A petition to God is you will, asking for some kind of mercy or blessing, etc.
The thank offering is to be eaten on the same day and none of the food to be consumed is to be carried over to the next day. We are to express our thanks immediately and not drag it out as if grudgingly as though it were not enough.
The future request offering food is to be eaten over the space of two days, but not to the third day. A future request cannot be expected immediately, but needs to have a degree of patience instilled in the believer. God will answer all prayers, however the believer needs to understand his prayer and its compatibility with Gods plan for the believers life as well as the worlds history on the whole. To ask for all of the money in the world would not likely be received in a positive fashion. But to ask for sufficient funds to pay ones normal monthly bills is very reasonable, and is likely to be received in a positive response. Of course there is a lot of room in between these two examples for favorable and unfavorable response from God. The believer is not to be intimidated in prayer, but should approach God in boldness to His grace. If you do not ask, you will not receive.
If you ask in a state of uncleanness (sin in the life, lust motivated requests, etc.), then your prayers will not be answered, or better still they will be rejected. If you approach God in a clean state (fellowship), then the Bank of Heaven is more apt to be receptive to your requests. Obviously with certain potential limitations - Gods plan. Not all prayers are for money by the way. Many prayers are for a wide variety of mercies - business related, employment related, mental related, social related, medical related, concern for others, protection for others, blessing for others as well as self, etc. The list is obviously endless.
The various offerings describe the relation of Christ (flour), Christ (male of female animal - representing the active or passive obedience of Christ - see chapter three for more details), the Holy Spirit (oil), unleaven (nothing to make the offering spoil - no corruption) which is allowed to be burned in its portion. The leavened cakes can be eaten and presented but not burned, representing that God provides us blessing even within this world in which we live. Not out of fellowship, but we are in this world and the world is corrupt in a manner of speaking.
If anything unclean comes into contact with any of the offering, r if any person approaches the ritual in a ceremonially unclean state (bad attitude), then the offering is rejected. That person is rejected unless and until they get their act together and comply with Gods strict commands pertaining to proper worship.
No person can make up their own rules. We cannot form our own cult, our own religion, our own denomination for the pure convenience of our personal rules which we formulated.
I was asked about the Mormon faith recently and I really hadn't thought of it in to much detail, but it is a perfect example of this kind of violation. That is defining a belief for the convenience of ones own lusts, ie multiple wives, etc. As well as distorting the basic principles of Gods essence - ie., that God was once a man and became God at some point in the past, by being super good. That there is a Mommy God and a Father God who produced a spirit child named Jesus, and such other nonsense as that. Of course there are many such false beliefs and cults in the world.
Though the belief in a given religion might be popular (the paradise of Islam and 20 virgins as another example), its popularity does not make it right. Human public opinion is generally wrong in this world.
These offerings emphasize the exclusion of uncleanness, and the mandatory clean state of the soul of the believer when approaching God. All worship and things related to it belong to God, not mankind. This is repeated throughout the scriptures, 'which belong to the Lord.' Man can add nothing to Gods plan. Man is but a recipient of His grace. Since God treats us in the pattern and spirit of grace, then perhaps we should think of using it in our lives with respect to others in our day to day social and interpersonal skill applications.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
