Leviticus 4:22-26
Lesson # Leviticus 4:22-26
Study Material - Leviticus 4:22-26
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Lev. 4:22-26
22 'When a leader sins and unintentionally does any one of all the things which the LORD God has commanded not to be done, and he becomes guilty, 23 if his sin which he has committed is made known to him, he shall bring for his offering a goat, a male without defect. 24 'And he shall lay his hand on the head of the male goat, and slay it in the place where they slay the burnt offering before the LORD; it is a sin offering. 25 'Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering. 26 'And all its fat he shall offer up in smoke on the altar as in the case of the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings. Thus the priest shall make atonement for him in regard to his sin, and he shall be forgiven.
Leaders are those who are in authority but not the highest authority in the land. This captures all persons in some form of authority or another in life. The animal for sacrifice is to be a male goat, signifying the active volition of Christ in going to the Cross.
As a person in authority, but still subordinate to others over you, one must be active in their spiritual life. Not having the say so in all of ones life due to others setting policy, but still having some authority to carry out that policy, a person needs to be active and alert to his or her responsibilities. And prepared to accept responsibility for their decisions and actions.
This offering for sins of ignorance or unintentional sins again spells out the need for a leader to be on guard for his own life as well as how his own decisions might affect others. Too often many leaders of social clubs or business organizations, or whatever organization ones happens to be involved in, will be competitive inordinately toward others in a back stabbing or political manner, seeking to gain control of their organization at the expense of others. Their motives and actions that follow are less then honest and certainly not for the good of the whole organization.
In the spiritual life this is avoid if one is objective toward their own life and pursues Bible study in order to become aware of their flaws. Apart from this active role in Bible doctrine, there is sin and discord within an organization. The organization becomes weak and eventually falls apart.
The procedure of the offering follows the pattern of the previous offerings for unknown sin, but when the blood is carried into the tabernacle it is not sprinkled before the veil, but instead placed on the horns of the alter of incense. Prayer is the significant difference here for the lower level leader.
Leaders are to be active in their doctrinal pursuit, as is everyone, but more so in their prayer life. One cannot pray if one does not know Bible doctrine. One does not know Bible doctrine unless one studies daily. One cannot learn Bible doctrine unless one is in fellowship.
People in lower levels of life are less powerful in this world than those in higher positions of authority and power. Leaders, though they might have some perks and benefits for their position, still have many limitations. Top command leaders can come and go as they please. Lower ranking leaders must remain on their post and thought they have some delegation, they still do much of the work of their subordinates, along with their subordinates.
In life they are restricted in their freedoms of life. Thus prayer is a must for added relief from God.
This offering teaches the need for prayer from a position of an active role in Bible study. To do less is to get ones self squashed in life, by life. The jungle is tough on anyone who lacks power and certainly on anyone who lacks spiritual resources. Though no one is safe in the jungle of life, the only place of safety comes from spiritual growth.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
