Leviticus 3:6-11

Lesson # Leviticus 3:6-11
Study Material - Leviticus 3:6-11

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Lev. 3:6-11

6 'But if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD is from the flock, he shall offer it, male or female, without defect. 7 'If he is going to offer a lamb for his offering, then he shall offer it before the LORD, 8 and he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and slay it before the tent of meeting; and Aaron's sons shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar. 9 'And from the sacrifice of peace offerings he shall bring as an offering by fire to the LORD, its fat, the entire fat tail which he shall remove close to the backbone, and the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 10 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys. 11 'Then the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar, as food, an offering by fire to the LORD.

This offering is of the same type, and the repetition of the ritual is identical to the former offering. The animal without blemish - the perfect person of Christ in His life during those 33+ years prior to the Cross. The hands on the head - the transfer of the sins of man onto Christ. The slaughtering, the sprinkling of blood, the dividing up of the animal carcass all carry the same doctrinal lessons for those who offered the sacrifice, as well as those who happened to be present during the sacrifice.

The word for peace represents the reconciliation of man with God, the removal of the barrier between man and God, thus peace is restored with God.

Here in this offering the whole rump is removed separately and offered on the alter. That portion of the flock animal has the greater share of fat portions, or the best portions of the animal. Again representing the perfect life of Christ. His impeccability is nearly always represented in these sacrifices to emphasize that there is only one person who qualifies for the Cross - Jesus Christ.

Just as the skinning of the animal reveals a thick layer of fat without defects, so this inner portion of the hind quarters reveals the high quality of the sacrificial animal. Both depicting the perfect qualifications of Jesus Christ for the Cross.

The kidneys and the liver covering again represent the stability of Jesus emotionally and revelation of His glory in His work accomplished on the Cross. Throughout the scriptures certain human inner organs are used to represent various aspects of Bible doctrine. For example the heart is distinguished from the mind in reference to the two functions of the soul. The mind focuses on the doctrine in residence in the soul while the heart represents the circulating aspects of learning Bible doctrine. Here we have the kidneys representing the emotional and mental stability of Christ in His humanity and the liver, or better yet the removal of the covering over the liver representing the glory revealed in Christ.

Some of this offering is clarified in Eph. 2:14-18. Christ, through the Cross, broke down the barrier that existed between man and God. This restored peace to all who believe in Christ. To those who reject Christ, they return to the slave market and in effect re-erect the barrier, but not from sin, but from their own decision to reject God.

Throughout the centuries prior to Christ, these sacrifices were performed over and over again. The repetition should have taught those who made the offerings something, but in our current day we have the same repetition of Gods revelation before us day after day. Yet we too have those peoples that reject or ignore God in their stubborn arrogance. The sacrifices, though we do not have them in our present age because they have been abrogated since the time of the Cross, some 2000 years ago, taught the necessity of a perfect person, a supernatural person, who could fulfill the requirements of the Cross. This person could not come from the natural descendants of Adam, the seed of the man, but from the miraculous descendants of Adam, the seed of the woman. One absent the sin nature and capable of fulfilling the plan of God. Only a man could fulfill the requirements of the life of a man, and only God could fulfill the requirements of the impeccability of the man. Therefore God must become man to accomplish the requirements of the Cross. The perfect mediator - both God and man in the person of Jesus Christ.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
