Leviticus 2:7-10

Lesson # Leviticus 2:7-10
Study Material - Leviticus 2:7-10

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Lev. 2:7-10

7 'Now if your offering is a grain offering made in a pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. 8 'When you bring in the grain offering which is made of these things to the LORD, it shall be presented to the priest and he shall bring it to the altar. 9 'The priest then shall take up from the grain offering its memorial portion, and shall offer it up in smoke on the altar as an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD. 10 'And the remainder of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons: a thing most holy, of the offerings to the LORD by fire.

The pan, 'marchesheth', refers to a stew pan with a lid which half covers the food and half of the food is open to the air. Again the fire is from a source below. BY now you should be able to see the repetition of the teachings of these offerings. This of course represents both the Godward side of the Cross, that side which could be seen only by God because the Cross was shrouded in darkness during those final three hours for judgment, as well as the manward side of the Cross, that side which could be viewed by people present during the hours prior to judgment, which would include the trials and the abuse of those trials, the march to the place of crucifixion, and the raising of the Cross.

The flour is Christ, the pure life he led through and through, both in His thoughts as well as His overt actions. The oil mixed into the flour represents the indwelling and support the Holy Spirit provided throughout Jesus' life.

The oil which was poured on, represents the anointing or the appointment to this end for which Christ came into this world. He came for no other reason but to go to the Cross.

The fire of course represents the judgment process of those sins.

The offerer brought the prepared offering to the priests and presented it to them. This represents the offerer's faith in Christ. The priest takes the offering and comes near to the alter, offers a portion, a memorial, 'azkarah', a remembrance (this do in remembrance of me) on to the alter, burns it and that is accepted by God as a soothing aroma. The offering is in accordance with the prescribed rules of sacrifice. Not only is this offering in compliance, but the life of the offerer must be in compliance as well. These offerings imply that the offerer is a believer and in appropriate fellowship. Were an unbeliever to do this without the appropriate faith, then the offering would have no meaning. Remembrance implies that the offerer knows and understands Bible doctrine. 'This I recall to mind', 'this I remember', 'keep on doing this in remembrance of me', 'This I recall to mind therefore I have confidence. It is because of the Lords mercies that we are not consumed, great is thy faithfulness.'

The combining of the offerer's actions, his volition in performing this offering, and with the contents of the various offerings must be compatible and in compliance with Gods will. If your attitude is negative then this offering, this act of worship does you no good. Likewise if you attend church everyday of your life, but you never commit your faith to belief in Christ, then you have no salvation, you have no spiritual life. Too many people attend their local churches for all the wrong reasons. Generally it is for social activities or even just to be seen in the right places by others for business, social, or even political motives.

The remainder represents the faith of eating by which the priests consume the foods remaining. It also represents the fellowship that unites the offerer, the priest, and God, in this ritual of worship, of Bible study.

'A thing most holy', God is satisfied. Both His righteousness and His justice are satisfied by the work of Christ on the Cross. Righteousness and justice combine to make His holiness. Holiness combines with Gods love to make His policy of grace.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
