Joel 3:10-12

Joel 3:10-12 10 Beat [kathath] your plowshares [eth] into swords [chereb] , and your pruninghooks [mazmerah] into spears [romach] : let the weak [challash] say [amar] , I am strong [gibbowr] . 11 Assemble [uwsh] yourselves, and come [bow] , all ye heathen [gowy] , and gather yourselves together [qabats] round about [cabiyb] : thither cause thy mighty ones [gibbowr] to come down [nachath] , O LORD [Yahovah] . 12 Let the heathen [gowy] be wakened [uwr] , and come up [alah] to the valley [emeq] of Jehoshaphat [Yahowshaphat] : for there will I sit [yashab] to judge [shaphat] all the heathen [gowy] round about [cabiyb] . KJV-Interlinear 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, 'I am a mighty man.' 11 Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, And gather yourselves there. Bring down, O LORD, Thy mighty ones. 12 Let the nations be aroused And come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, For there I will sit to judge All the surrounding nations. NASB There are two opinions in this universe. Gods, and everything else. We repeat this concept because sooner or later we all have to come to the realization that we need Gods wisdom rather than building up our life based on anything which is anti-God. Now we are speaking of philosophies, theories, norms and standards for society and such things. Basic sciences such as math, astronomy, and things like that which can have objective answers are legitimate when used properly. However even these concepts can be used in anti-God theories - ie. the big bang theory which sits in opposition of Genesis which teaches us that God created the universe in an instant, and out of nothing. Evolution, same sex marriage, compromises to norms and standards of society, disrespect to for authority, and so on and so forth. When mankind starts to depart from God, then the thinking of man becomes more and more bizarre. In small things at first, but as time goes by as generations pass on these false concepts, subsequent generations take them and add even more false concepts to them. This all leads eventually to trouble. The driving force behind mans opinion is his volition, but behind that volition is mans sin nature which guides mans decisions. Arrogance armed with all sorts of lusts, stubbornness, envy, greed, jealousy, and that list goes on, man, who is not interested in God, will move further and further away from God. He will invent his own gods, and rules of life, and will seek to take advantage of everyone who is weaker either physically or mentally. When this attitude seizes an entire nation, then other nations are at risk from their aggression. An extremely arrogant nation (or group of people - such as a terrorist group) perceives itself as having the right to do whatever it chooses. Gods purpose in life is peace, tranquility, prosperity, tremendous happiness. In contrast evil mans purpose (all anti-God opinion) is designed to take and destroy. Evil mankind will take the articles of prosperity (plows, pruning tools) and will reshape them into materials of war, and then go out to aggressively wage war against anyone and everyone who will back down from them. This forces pro-God peoples to prepare adequate defenses in order to protect themselves from the evil dudes of the world. Without adequate preparation then evil would have taken over the world long ago. Gods word has been available since Adam and Eve. Everyone who has ever lived has had access to Gods word. We have already seen that there are those who disregard Gods Word (the ultimate authority), therefore they will not listen to any kind of reason. Their heart is bent on destruction, and their motives are bent on your destruction. God deals with these unbendable types with a greater violence than they themselves can bring. God always wins, because God has the greater power and His application of it is permanent. So the challenge continues from God. 'Beat all the things which make life better, into things for destruction.' Man is so impatient to satisfy his lusts, that he will hasten, he will rush to his own destruction. This is an important concept when doing battle with those who are evil. They will not think through their plans, though many have very intricate planning methods. But in the long run, evil will eventually leave the logical and systematic methods of planning and will rush into the fight ill prepared. When pressure is applied to evil, then is begins to make more and more mistakes, leaving it open to defeat. God makes the announcement. Rush the to valley of 'My decision' of 'My judgment.' This conflict between good and evil is not one where evil has the control of the battle field, but is one where God controls all of the elements which will go into the final battle. God even chooses the place of their last stand. While the nations (organized opposition to God) are destroying their tools of prosperity, while the nations are rushing around with great things, great victories, in their own minds, while the nations are charging into the heat of battle as an animal will charge into the smell of blood and victory. What is God doing? God is sitting. He is sitting on His throne. He is sitting there calm, relaxed, well poised, and ... all powerful. With but a thought God can destroy the universe. The armies of the world pose no problem at all. But as we are studying, the last seven years of mans history prior to the Second Advent, will see mankind spiraling downward into degeneracy. As for the events in Iraq, and a year or so ago in Afghanistan, and almost always somewhere in Africa, we now witness in these isolated areas of the world, the evils which can take place when the world looks the other way. When the Tribulation comes, then the world will in fact look the other way and the entire world will nose dive into trouble. Trouble will not be isolated in a few areas of the world, but will be spread worldwide. When all is said and done, God will come out the victor and those who pursue Gods will, will come out on the side of the victor, and all those who ally themselves against God will come out the loser. All their boasting and ranting and raving and blasphemous oratory will come to nothing. They will have no more power than a single locust at the end of its life cycle. Some of these terrorist 'tough' guys might want to consider that (being compared to a dead locust), but of course they won't. Then again, you don't have to be a terrorists to be included in this comparison. Anyone who is anti-God in some fashion (just a nice person who doesn't think much about God) is included. Check you mirror and check it twice. To check yourself for being naughty or nice!!!! Ha! I thought up that last line all by myself. Well, Santa might have helped a little. End of lesson. Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
