Joel 2:32
Lesson # Joel 2:32
Study Material - Joel 2:32
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Joel 2:32 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call [qara] on the name [shem] of the LORD [Yahovah] shall be delivered [malat] : for in mount [har] Zion [Tsiyown] and in Jerusalem [Yaruwshalaim] shall be deliverance [paleytah] , as the LORD [Yahovah] hath said [amar] , and in the remnant [sariyd] whom the LORD [Yahovah] shall call [qara] . KJV-Interlinear 32 'And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LORD Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the LORD has said, Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls. NASB
While the world is fighting furiously by now, all of mankind will descend on the Middle East and Jerusalem, Zech 12. There will be a remnant of Jewish people who will not leave the city, Obad. 17, as instructed to do so at the mid point of the Tribulation (we have already studied that command - flee to the mountains). Consequently they will throw up a tremendous defense of the city against the attack which is being unleashed against them from all sides, Zech. 12.
Christ will descend from the air and touch down on the Mt. of Olives, from the very spot where He ascended, forty days after the Cross, and on that moment, the very instant when His foot touches the ground, the Mountain will split apart in a great earthquake, from east to west, from the Mediterranean Sea all of the way to the Dead Sea, through the middle of the Mt. Of Olives and Jerusalem.
The remnant who have been defending the city will not run away from the huge valley which just split open, but will run into the valley and away from the city, Zech 14. This is their deliverance. And the enemy will pour into the city, and be annihilated by Christ.
Needles to say these last remaining days and hours prior to Christ's return will be pure chaos, total violence, and unbelievable stress on everyone.
But here we have the promise to everyone and anyone who looks to Christ by believing in Him, even in those final moments prior to His return. Everyone has the opportunity to be saved right up to the moment of Christ's return. Once He returns then time is virtually up. Judgment will be unleashed against all of mankind, worldwide, once those who have believed in Christ have had sufficient time to escape Jerusalem.
Now, the picture of the world from this point on. Christ has returned. Mankind has been obliterated. There will be dead bodies everywhere, billions of them, of those who have rejected Christ right up until the very last moment of their lives.
There will be remaining alive, a remnant of believers who have been faithful to Christ. There will be those who ran to the mountains, those who hid wherever they could, and those who remained in the city of Jerusalem, defending the city against all aggression.
But once Christ has returned and unleashed His judgment on the world, only believers will remain alive, a remnant of humanity, and those folks will continue to live and they will be the basis for repopulating the earth in the Millennium.
We are reviewing this very briefly, but will see it in even more and graphic detail as we continue in our study of Revelation.
We note in our current passage that there will be believers in Jerusalem and that they will escape. Furthermore, everyone who calls on Christ's name, will be delivered. But will anyone call? Unfortunately very few. Presumably some will call on Christ, but by this time in the Tribulation, those who are going to believe in Christ most probably have believed already, and the rest of humanity will remain defiant to the end. Thus people will die by the billions.
What happens next. Satan and his demon followers will be thrown into prison. The world will undergo many changes. The ferocity of animals will mellow away (the lion will lie down with the lamb). The life spans of people will be extended to the end of the Millennium. People will be able to live for the entire 1000 years of the Millennium, Isa. 65. There will be tremendous prosperity like at no other time in history. There will be a tremendous population explosion. Not surprising since people will live a very long time.
And then at the end of the Millennium, Satan will be released from prison, having learned nothing from his imprisonment, he will again rally any and all who have rejected Christ for one last rebellion against Christ.
During the Millennium, the population of the earth will grow very fast. The birth rate will explode off the charts. But even with Christ here on earth, even with tremendous prosperity all around, even with angels coming and going, even with people in resurrection bodies coming and going (that will be you and me), even with all the people from the Old Testament coming and going, from Adam on up, even with all of these things present, there will still be people who will refuse to believe in Christ as their savior. That will be truly amazing - that anyone could be born into such an environment and still reject Christ.
Anyway, these will turn quickly to Satan when he is released. And then Christ will put that final rebellion down very quickly. The Millennium will come to an official end, and the books of the last judgment, the Great White Throne, will be opened. Before Christ will stand all unbelievers from throughout history, and they will stand in defiance against Christ, and receive their judgment - the Lake of Fire and be thrown in.
Christ will destroy the universe as we know it and create something far better and totally new. We will be there to see it all. Then eternity will begin and from there total happiness and perfection in life will begin. Your imagination won't even be able to conceive what it will be like.
Joel finishes his summary and in the next chapter will begin Gods reckoning with His enemies, Gods judging all nations when the measure of their iniquity is full, and Gods provision for His people.
End of lesson.
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
