Joel 2:30-31

Lesson # Joel 2:30-31 Study Material - Joel 2:30-31 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Joel 2:30-31 30 And I will shew [nathan] wonders [mowpheth] in the heavens [shamayim] and in the earth [erets] , blood [dam] , and fire [esh] , and pillars [tiymarah] of smoke [ashan] . 31 The sun [shemesh] shall be turned [haphak] into darkness [choshek] , and the moon [yareach] into blood [dam] , before [paniym] the great [gadowl] and the terrible [yare] day [yowm] of the LORD [Yahovah] come [bow] . KJV-Interlinear 30 'And I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire, and columns of smoke. 31 'The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. NASB But, before the great Day of the Lord, There will be violence on planet earth like no other time in all of human history, and it will never be repeated again. Joel regresses to the time immediately before the Day of the Lord, which is the Second Advent of Christ. As a precursor to that great and terrible day, the world will be embroiled in a worldwide conflict. And terrible is not an adequate word to describe the violence and carnage which will occur. We have studied these events in our Revelation and Matthew study, peeking at Ezekiel and Isaiah for details, but briefly the chronology of the end of the tribulation will go like this. The alliance of nations of the South (King of the South), will push northward into the area we now call Israel. Their push will be a weak one, a sissy push if you will. The King of the North will retaliate in a massive drive southward, and though there are implications of an alliance between the Kings of the North and South, the Northern power will double cross the Southern alliance and drive southward through Israel, and into and across Northern Africa, as well as into Saudi Arabia and those neighboring nations to the east. The King of the South will roll back onto its back as a helpless naked female would and allow the King of the North to have its way with her. Such is the description of the weakness of the Southern power. That ends its existence. From the West will come a counter attack and from the east will come yet another attack. The world will quickly escalate into a bitter and terrible war, which we call Armageddon. Now the description of those days are in the descriptions of the blood and fire and billows of smoke indicate the effects of violent warfare. Though this phenomena will signal doom for Gods enemies, His people should interpret them as the precursors of their deliverance, Matt. 24:29-31, Mk. 13:24-27, Lk. 21:25-28. Ezek. 32:6-8 6 'I will also make the land drink the discharge of your blood, As far as the mountains, And the ravines shall be full of you. 7 'And when I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens, and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give its light. 8 'All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you And will set darkness on your land,' Declares the Lord GOD. NASB Isa. 13:6 6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. NASB Isa. 13:10-11 10 For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not flash forth their light; The sun will be dark when it rises, And the moon will not shed its light. 11 Thus I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud, And abase the haughtiness of the ruthless. NASB Rev. 6:12 12 And I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; NASB Now remember that these days will not be only for a day, but for many days. We have seen various wars in our lifetime, and in past history. It takes time to move troops and supplies. It takes time to plan and prepare even before an attack. But a great deal of this preparation will be done in secret as these attacks will come in surprise actions. The Kings of the West and East will need some time to respond in kind to the events of the Middle East, so these days will be drawn out probably for several months. We can only guess at the time table. What we do know, is that the Tribulation will last seven years. We know that it will be under tremendous economic, and social turmoil for the first half of the tribulation. The second half of the tribulation, which is called by Jesus as the 'Great Tribulation' will be filled with tremendous violence from a total breakdown from the perspective of justice and human rights, as scapegoats are made of Jews, Jewish believers, and Christians in general. Believers will be martyred by the millions, but many will run to the mountains as they have been instructed, and most of them will survive for the last three and one-half years of the Tribulation. Probably (we speculate here) the world powers (North, South, and East) will begin making their own preparations because of the chaos of the world, during this latter half of the Tribulation, and because they reject the choke hold which the anti-christ is trying to impose on them. Recall the economic policy of the anti-christ in trying to control who can buy and who can sell and so forth. The King of the West (the anti-christ) will have an alliance with Israel, for which Israel will have to pay in order to keep that protection. This implies something of great value from within that region. Something which the South and the North desire or resent their having control over. Today that probably would be oil. Otherwise why would anyone want to attack Israel when the entire world is spiraling out of control? Anyway all of this is speculation as to the why's of the attacks. What we know is that these attacks will occur and that time is short for all parties in order to prepare for them (the last half of the tribulation or 3 ½ years). God will allow this war to occur as all parties of humanity will be at each others throats. Then Christ will return and annihilate everyone (all unbelievers, negative believers, and warring parties) in an instant. End of lesson. Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
