Job 39:19-25
19 Hast thou given [nathan] the horse [cuwc] strength [gabuwrah]? hast thou clothed [labash]
his neck [tsavva'r] with thunder [ra`mah]?
20 Canst thou make him afraid [ra`ash] as a grasshopper ['arbeh]?
the glory [howd] of his nostrils [nachar] is terrible ['eymah].
21 He paweth [chaphar] in the
valley [`emeq], and rejoiceth [suws] in his strength [koach]: he
goeth on [yatsa'] to meet [qir'ah] the armed men [nesheq].
22 He mocketh [sachaq] at fear [pachad], and is not affrighted [chathath]; neither turneth he back [shuwb] from [paniym] the sword [chereb].
23 The quiver ['ashpah] rattleth [ranah] against him, the glittering [lahab] spear [chaniyth] and the
shield [kiydown].
24 He swalloweth [gama'] the ground ['erets] with
fierceness [ra`ash] and rage [rogez]: neither believeth ['aman]
he that it is the sound [qowl] of the trumpet [showphar].
25 He saith ['amar] among [day] the trumpets [showphar], Ha
[heach], ha [heach]; and he smelleth [ruwach]
the battle [milchamah] afar off [rachowq], the thunder [ra`am] of the
captains [sar], and the shouting [taruw`ah]. KJV-Interlinear
19 'Do you give the horse his
might? Do you clothe his neck with a
mane? 20 'Do you make him leap like the locust? His majestic snorting is terrible.
21 'He paws in the valley, and rejoices
in his strength; He goes out to meet the
weapons. 22 'He laughs at fear and is
not dismayed; And he does not turn back
from the sword. 23 'The quiver rattles
against him, The flashing spear and javelin. 24 'With shaking and rage he races over the
ground; And he does not stand still at
the voice of the trumpet. 25 'As often
as the trumpet sounds he says, 'Aha!' And
he scents the battle from afar, And thunder of the captains, and the war cry. NASB
From the ostrich, which is considered to be a dumb and
cowardly animal, to the war horse, the contrast between the two is tremendous.
The war horse which is being described here, is
valiant. He hears the sounds of battle
and becomes anxious to get into the fight.
From his neck to his hooves, the horse is built for power and speed.
At the sound of the trumpet, the horse neighs and
snorts. His feet become restless as he
steps around snorting and neighing, in his impatience to get going.
Leaping forward like a locust, running while assembled
in a cavalry line of battle, the war horse charges forward toward the enemy,
with the sense and instincts and courage that God gave him.
The sound of battle all around, the war horse does not
flinch, nor turn left or right, but charges straight into the enemy lines at a
full gallop.
God has been describing several animals thus far. And in them all, their characteristics,
attributes, personalities and such did not come to them by accident or through
some form of evolutionary development, but by the design which God created
specifically for each one of them.
In addition, man had nothing to do with any of their
development, nor does man have anything to do with sustaining each of these
species on this planet. We have in this
chapter, only one more animal to go.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
