You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 22:22
22 Receive [laqach], I pray thee, the
law [towrah] from his mouth [peh], and lay up [suwm] his
words ['emer] in thine heart [lebab]. KJV-Interlinear
22 'Please receive instruction
from His mouth, And establish His words in your heart. NASB
To receive means more then just to hear, but it means
to accept that which you hear and incorporate it into your daily life. To develop a pattern of living, which will
lead to more reception of Gods Word and to more exclusion of the views of the
world. To transform your mind, to transform
your thoughts, to transform your thought pattern, and finally to transform your
entire life.
The 'law' is the instruction in all good things. It is a reference to the body of precepts, proverbs,
statutes and so forth by which you may accomplish your mental and therefore
spiritual transformation.
The precepts etc. come from Gods mouth. We do not know all of the formats of
communication, which were available in Jobs time, but we can have a general
idea from what we have studied.
References have been made to papyrus, so we know that written records
existed. We know of dreams and visions, or men who communicated what they
knew. We know of parents who taught
their children, handing down their wisdom from generation to generation.
Regardless of the form, the doctrines of God, came
from God, and were distributed by men to others. It is not so different now. We all read various studies of the scriptures
and we compare them with our logic, with our prior knowledge, or with our
common sense. In every case, God the
Holy Spirit makes the truth clear and the lies obvious. And thus we learn, and as we learn, we become
able to discern right from wrong, fact from fiction, truth from lies, and so forth.
Our repetition of study launches a spiritual building
program within our soul. This building
program, or an edification process as mentioned in Ephesians, establishes for
permanent residence, spiritual resources within our soul. We also call this the construction of a
fortress, a temple, a mansion, a palace, within our soul.
It is from inside of this complex that we establish
and live our spiritual lives. The heart
does not reside within our soul, but is a pump, which is in our chest. The
location is irrelevant, because the function of the heart is what is in view
here. The heart is a pump. It circulates the blood throughout our
body. And thus the heart of the soul, is
the activity of the circulation of Bible doctrine throughout our mental thinking
process.
What you think is what you are. Learning Bible doctrine is not enough, you
need to think it, and utilize it everyday throughout your daily life (the
subject of James). And by this thinking
process your actions in life follow your thinking and that becomes your
spiritual production, or your gold, silver, and precious stone accumulation
within your soul. Something you
definitely want when one day you stand before the Lord for your evaluation.
By Eliphaz's words, we know that even in those very
early times in ancient history, there was adequate information and
communication of Gods Word, to enable folks to grow up spiritually.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
