Job 22:8
8 But as for the mighty [zarowa`] man ['iysh], he had the
earth ['erets]; and the honourable man [nasa'] [paniym] dwelt [yashab] in it. KJV-Interlinear
8 'But the earth belongs to the
mighty man, And the honorable man dwells in it. NASB
Eliphaz continues his criticism of Job and his wealth,
and particularly in the manner in which he acquired his wealth.
Remember that Eliphaz sites no facts, because he has
none. All of his accusations are
frivolous and without basis. His whole
premise is that Job is suffering, wicked men suffer, therefore Job must be
wicked.
And with that kind of logic, then we can say that
monkeys have legs, we have legs, and therefore we all must be qualified to play
pro basketball. And of course that kind
of logic is silly.
However, history is filled with that type of
subjective logic. Hitler thought he was
the super race, and he wasn't even German.
Pro climate change folks note the warming changes over the centuries.
The Sahara was a lush grassland region once, but that was a few thousand years
ago. Now it is a desert. Wasn't there
once a land mass between Alaska and Russia?
Yes. Didn't Alexandria once sit
on dry land, and now is under water in the Mediterranean? Yes.
And you can find innumerable changes in this planet over the course of
the centuries.
Is the planet climate changing? Yes. Slowly
and over long periods of time.
And, by the way, the most dramatic changes will occur
during the seven year period known as the Tribulation, which is still future. Will man be able to stop that? No.
Did man cause these global changes? No. But politicians, celebrities, and scientists
alike will make you think that most of the changes are occurring now, because
they have an agenda, which includes making them more powerful in government and
gives them an excuse to create more government programs. Bureaucracies that will never make a
difference in the climate changes, but it will give them job and power security,
and ultimately more control over your life.
That last item is the real goal of government leaders.
And you will ultimately be stuck with paying for it.
Did evolution cause man to come from monkeys or
fish? No. But evolution has become such
a widely accepted concept that if you challenge it or even suggest divine
design, you will be run out of Dodge.
And here Eliphaz suggests that Job has become wealthy
at the expense of the poor. That the
earth belongs to the rich and powerful. And what is more, the rich favor the
rich, while looking down condescendingly at the poor. And Job is accused of all of these
attitudes. Job is accused of being an
elitist, while holding contempt for the poor.
The mighty man is the one who accumulates wealth at
the expense of the poor. The honorable
man is the rich man. Honor here is
simply the well to do. The upper
class. Both comments charge that Job
cares nothing for the poor, or anyone of a lesser stature in society.
And so Eliphaz makes his accusations because he refuses
to believe that God would allow suffering to come to anyone who is blameless. And that only the wicked could become targets
for suffering to the magnitude that has overwhelmed Job.
We need to revisit the opening lines of Job 1.
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was
Job, and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God, and turning away from
evil. NASB
Eliphaz has known Job for a long time. Eliphaz has no real proof of any kind that
Job is guilty of anything. And yet he
clings to his biased and subjective beliefs, over the truth or actual facts,
because Eliphaz has an agenda which is more important to him than truth.
Such is the nature of religions, philosophies, beliefs
of all types which exclude the principles of Christianity.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
