You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 22:3
3 Is it any pleasure [chephets] to the Almighty [Shadday],
that thou art righteous [tsadaq]? or is it gain
[betsa`] to him, that thou makest thy ways [derek] perfect [tamam]? KJV-Interlinear
3 'Is there any pleasure to the
Almighty if you are righteous, Or profit if you make your ways perfect? NASB
Where does God get his joy?
Psa. 45:7
7 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness;
Therefore God, Thy God, has anointed Thee With the oil of joy above Thy fellows.
NASB
Psa. 14:2-3
2 The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons
of men, To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. 3 They have all turned aside; together they
have become corrupt; There is no one who
does good, not even one. NASB
God does not get his joy from man per se, He gets his
joy from His own righteousness. His perfect
essence in effect is the source and foundation of Gods happiness. God is perfect happiness.
God is not dependent on circumstances for His
happiness. For circumstances come and go
like a roller coaster, and yet Gods perfection goes on uninterrupted.
Eliphaz seemed to think that Job thought himself
perfect in some fashion, and that therefore God was under some obligation to
Job. An obligation to continue him in
prosperity because of his spiritual maturity.
Job of course made no such claim. In fact, we know that Job never considered
himself perfect because first, he stated that he was a sinner, and second, he
practiced the confession offerings for gaining forgiveness for sins and
restoring himself to fellowship.
If we were perfect then we would be God. And of course, none of us can make that
claim. We are all imperfect. And even though many folks will live their
life with an attitude that they perceive themselves as better than others, they
fool only themselves.
God gives his attention to that which is perfect. Since man is imperfect, then man can never
receive any attention from God.
But God solved that dilemma through His plan of spirituality. By believing in Christ we receive in that
initial instant of faith, a human spirit.
That gives us a link to God.
Within that human spirit resides eternal life. That gives us the opportunity to live Gods
life, an eternal life. Without that we
could not survive in heaven. In fact we
could not even get into heaven.
Next, God gives us doctrine, or the door through which
we may receive His perfection.
Doctrine resident within us, is not us, but that
little piece of God to which God will pay attention.
So, if you wish anything from God, then you have to
have a target for his attention. Salvation
gives you the mechanism for a relationship, bible doctrine, spiritual growth, and
a functioning spiritual life are necessary in order to have a quality
relationship with God
In the previous verse we saw that God is not impressed
by our human abilities. We are not the
source of our own abilities anyway.
Here we learn that being positive toward God will not
impress Him either. Man has no room or
basis for earning any obligations from God.
Everything comes to us as a gift. All that we are, is courtesy of God. Man can neither earn nor deserve anything.
God is never dependent on man, but we are forever
dependent on God.
God is pleased with no less that His own perfection,
which is truth. Gain that inside of your
soul and you will have a target for Gods blessing. Learn this principle, seek wisdom as Solomon
said, and your life will be forever changed and infinitely better.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
