You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 17:11
11 My days [yowm] are past [`abar], my purposes [zimmah] are
broken off [nathaq], even the thoughts [mowrash] of my heart [lebab]. KJV-Interlinear
11 'My days are past, my plans
are torn apart, Even the wishes of my heart. NASB
Job is feeling really
bad. He feels that his life has run its
course and he is at its end now. With so
many plans, and goals, and projects, and things he wanted to accomplish, they
are all now being filed in life's round file for permanent disposal. And that is the way this life will be for all
of us.
Everyone develops in their
life, plans and goals. We all have
things we want to accomplish, things we want to do over the course of our life. Sometimes it is a crusade to save the world,
to make a difference, to make changes for the better. Sometimes what we want is just better things
for ourselves or for our family.
Some folks feel a calling
to public service. Some folks feel a
calling or a yearning to do this or that.
To do something they feel is important in their life. And of course there are those who don't have
much ambition, but they still have wants and needs.
At the beginning or in the
early stages of our life we feel we can conquer the world, we feel like we are
bulletproof and we can do anything.
Sometimes we feel that we can make a difference.
Then life and reality
happens. Sooner or later death enters
into our life's schedule and of course it is always inconvenient for our
plans. But life ends and all that we want,
all that we wanted to accomplish, and even all that we have accomplished, comes
to a crashing end.
We are not as bulletproof
or indestructible as we had thought.
Then, after death, we will
all come face to face with the real planner of life, Jesus Christ, and we will
come to a realization that it is He who lays out the events of this world and
of human history, not us.
Life, in this life is
temporary. Life, in this world was never
intended to be perpetuated forever. No
one was ever placed in this world to make it into a utopia.
This does not mean that we
don't try to do our best. That is simply
a function of responsibility to be the best we can, but in accordance with Gods
will, not in accordance with the will of evil.
Our first assignment is to
grow up spiritually. Once that is
accomplished, or during our spiritual growth, then God is courteous enough to
use us within His plan. He doesn't need
any of us in order to accomplish His purpose, but by grace, He lets us
participate.
And even though the world
seems to be heading on a collision course with self destruction, God has
everything well under control. He may
even use you as a part of that control, but you have to have your head on
straight before He does.
Too often people take
themselves too seriously, and overrate their own self-importance. God did not use any of us before we were
born, and He will not use any of us after we are long gone.
And unless you grow up in
your spiritual life, then you will never learn just how unimportant all your
goals, your worldly goals that is, are.
The best orientation to
life, is accomplished through the study of the Bible. We can wish all we want, but too often our
wishes clash with Gods plan.
Humanity was placed on this
world in order to settle the angelic conflict, and subsequently to populate the
new heaven in eternity. We were never
placed here to advance on our own, to some higher plane of existence, or just
to grow up, work, and then retire.
We all have our dreams, but
the spiritual life makes your dreams better.
Dreams from his world never come true.
Dreams generated within the spiritual life, always come true.
Some folks dream dreams and
that is as far as their life goes.
Spiritually mature people dream dreams and eventually will live a life
beyond their dreams.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
