You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 11:10
10 If he cut off [chalaph], and shut up [cagar], or
gather together [qahal], then who can hinder [shuwb] him? KJV-Interlinear
10 'If He passes by or shuts up, Or
calls an assembly, who can restrain Him? NASB
This is a legal due process sequence. If God is to file charges, hunt you down,
arrest you, and call your trial into session, then who can stop Him?
That is the sovereignty of God. God is all-powerful. God has complete foreknowledge of all of the
facts of every thought, motive, decision, and action of every human being who
has ever lived and who is yet to live.
This is a criminal proceeding. Anyone who commits sin, is the accused.
The word, 'chalaph,' means to cut off, to pursue, to
seize, to deny freedom. This is the
arresting action of God when He takes an accused into custody.
To 'shut up,' is the incarceration of the accused. And the 'call to assembly' is of course the
calling of a trial into session. 'Here
ye! Here ye! This court is now in session. The honorable God presiding. All rise.'
That is the general idea that Zophar is trying to
communicate.
Job is his target.
Zophar has already identified Job as the criminal, because of his
massive suffering. Zophar is looking at
the superficial and making his decision.
God, on the other hand, looks into the facts of a
matter, all of the facts, and processes information and makes decisions based
on truth.
God treats everyone, both male and female,
equally. No one ever gets away with anything. Not even the slightest of offenses gets by
God. The nicest of people, the worst of
tyrants, and everyone in between, come under the jurisdiction of Gods court.
Psa. 66:11-12
11 Thou didst bring us into the net; Thou didst lay an oppressive burden upon our
loins. 12 Thou didst make men ride over
our heads; We went through fire and
through water; Yet Thou didst bring us
out into a place of abundance. NASB
If God decides to give, then who can oppose Him? If God decides to take, then who can prevent
Him?
God can change empires. God can change nations. God can change individuals. God controls history. God controls every aspect of history, either
through the power of His essence, through the controls of establishment, or
through the permissive function of mans free will.
If God wishes for you to succeed, then nothing can
prevent it. If God wishes for you to
fail, then nothing can override His will.
Often times in life, life seems to have its own
will. No matter what we do, or do not
do, sometimes life seems to bring things together, things that we could never
cause on our own.
You can probably look back on your life and recall
events that have occurred, that made an impact on your life, or even redirected
your life. Events that you could not
have foreseen, or perhaps even events that you tried to avoid, but simply could
not prevent.
Life can bring some pretty peculiar activities into
your existence. In some cases you may
think that you were really lucky when you shouldn't have been, or pretty
unlucky when things should have gone your way.
You might have met someone under the oddest of
circumstances. You may have been rescued
from disaster because you were late.
I am sure that you can review your life and come up
with many situations that occurred despite your actions.
God is pretty smart.
We can be smart, wise, only if we commit ourselves to
a daily study of His word. But how many
actually adopt and accept that concept into their thinking?
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
