Job 9:24

24 'The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covers the faces of its judges. If it is not He, then who is it? NASB

If you have ever wondered why this world is so screwed up, so unfair, so ridiculously organized and run, then here is the answer. The wicked here, is in the singular and is a reference to Satan.

Luke 4:6-7

6 And the devil said to Him, 'I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. NASB

God gave the world to the wicked, but he gives heaven to the righteous.

In our current world, those who believe in Christ and advance to spiritual maturity, will more likely be rendered invisible as far as running things in this world is concerned. Perhaps occasionally someone will come along whom God will elevate to a position of authority, but generally speaking, the rulers of the world are not spiritual giants.

Wickedness is only interested in itself. Wickedness has no destiny. Wickedness therefore has to force itself into positions of power and authority in order to have anything.

Whether that wickedness is from Satan, or a dissatisfied spouse trying to get their way, or hyper-competitive social climbers, makes no difference. Wicked is wicked and while it lives within the world, its natural drive tendency is to get its way at any cost.

'Covering the faces of judges,' means that anyone who lacks a spiritual life, which will include unbelievers, and out of fellowship believers, will be unable to see truth. When one cannot see truth, then bad decisions are inevitable.

Many years ago, my family went on vacation and went on a tour of some giant caves. During the tour, the guides turned down the lights and it became really dark. You could not see your own nose. Anyone in that cave without light, would have no reference points with which to know where they were, let alone know which way to go. Getting disoriented and lost would be automatic.

That is the nature of the spiritually dysfunctional life. There are no walls to be used as a guide, no floor, no roof, nothing but ones own sin nature. And the sin nature has only one objective - disaster.

The greatest examples of this principle can be found in watching the lives of politicians and celebrities, if only because they are the ones in the news more than any of the rest of us. Their lives run the gamut from the bizarre to the ridiculous, with a whole lot of circus in between.

There are two different categories of truth - spiritual truth and academic truth. Academic truth ultimately comes from the source of the spiritual, but the academic is something that every human being can learn and understand.

In order to see spiritual truth, you need to have a human spirit. You have to believe in Christ before receiving your human spirit. Gods communication of spiritual phenomena comes to you by way of the Holy Spirit's communication, through your human spirit when you are in fellowship, and is then transferred down into the soul when you accept that information.

This is how the temple or fortress, or what ever you wish to call it, is constructed within your soul.

When you are out of fellowship, then this communication process is disconnected. It is kind of like having your link to the internet disconnected when you turn off your modem or unplug your network plug. Your computer is still functioning, but you are off line.

While off line, you cannot get anything from the internet. When out of fellowship, then your spiritual life is off line and you cannot get anything from God.

Within your own world and separated from God, then the natural forces of evil operate uninterrupted and things leave the reasonable and rational, and move into the ridiculous and worse. Even academic truth becomes distorted.

The wicked prosper. The wicked celebrate their victories over truth, which seems rather odd because when truth is defeated then you are in effect destroying yourself. The wicked strive for notoriety among the wicked. The blind leading the blind, in other words.

The wicked give each other prizes, awards, and recognitions for their efforts. The wicked work and hustle to re-write the principles of truth and strive to get everyone to follow their new set of regulations and standards for life.

History is full of examples of humanity spreading out to the four corners of the world searching for new frontiers in order to escape the persecutions and hardships that humanity has placed on its own kind. But, even that migration will come to an end when the frontiers run out, when truth finally succumbs to the popularity of wickedness, and finally when mans time on this earth also runs out.

Who is in charge of all of this? Who is running the show? Who is ultimately responsible for all that goes on? Who controls history?

God.

Jesus Christ controls history.

Buddha struggled with what he called his corrupt desires that produce sin, and tried to make his own way up an eight-fold path to conscious escape. What happened to him? He died. Mohammed could only come up with a plan that would excite a desert wanderer. Confucius could only come up with some cute sayings after analyzing the society around him. None of these had any real answers to life, only observations of things that they could not control.

Jesus Christ controls history. As God, He controls history in three ways. First is through His direct control. He created the universe. The second, is indirectly through the laws of establishment. The third method of controlling history, is through His permissive will. God allows people to make their own decisions and whether right or wrong, they can gain or lose by means of their own hands.

For now, the world belongs to Satan. His will and his pattern of thought run rampant through humanity. He has tried to build empires, he has tried to destroy through epidemics, he has tried to re-write and substitute Gods principles of truth, with his own. We see a lot of this last effort in the arrogance of the liberal mindset and through the cowardice and self-righteousness of the conservative mindset.

The wicked have the world for now. Let them have it. When they defeat truth, let them celebrate. Jesus Christ controls history. One day soon, He will pull the massive lever, which runs history, and all of Christianity will vanish from the face of the earth. In that moment, the wicked will have it all to themselves.

For many thousands of years now, truth has really been the source for preserving human history. When wickedness gets to have it all, they will bring humanity to the brink of extinction in under seven years. Where will their celebration be then?
