Job 9:10

10 Which doeth [`asah] great things [gadowl] past ['ayin] finding out [cheqer]; yea, and wonders [pala'] without number [micpar]. KJV-Interlinear

10 Who does great things, unfathomable, And wondrous works without number. NASB

Most folks do not recognize that God performs phenomenal things, without measure, without limit, in our behalf, day in and day out throughout our entire life.

Most folks may even acknowledge that God is great, or even use that phrase, but they fall short of incorporating that belief in their daily routine. Recognition of God in any fashion, is generally more of a courtesy, or a convenience for show, intended to influence or impress others.

Job has just finished listing several things that are common to our everyday life, things that we are certainly all aware of, but generally, we take for granted.

The mountains, the terrain around us, the oceans, the sun and the stars, are just a few examples of things which have always been there, and of which are stationed in their place, and have been for a very long time. All of these things are there and have been there throughout all of our memories.

Job mentions the oceans and these are still here in our current day. He mentions the earthquakes and volcanoes, both of which still occur. The stars, both seen and the unseen, the constellations, even their names have been around for a very long time.

If you were to fly into outer space, you would see an ocean of stars, but you would not be able to distinguish the patterns that we have all come to recognize as the constellations. You would have to come back down to the earth and regain the filtering characteristics of our atmosphere, which filters out the light from the weaker lights, allowing us to make out patterns of stars and thus use them for star gazing or travel.

In all of these examples, humanity has absolutely no control over their existence, or their activities. We cannot prevent or divert storms, we cannot prevent or divert or alter any natural disaster. We cannot change the natural course of the sun and the moon.

And yet, as Job points out clearly here, that God has complete control over everything in this universe, regardless of how near or far it might be from our earth.

Our life is a miracle. Everything in our life, is a miracle. The people we meet, the things we do, the events that are contemporary to our time, all of these are miracles. Nothing happens by accident. God is never caught by surprise.

God knows the will of the people and gives them the life and leaders they deserve. Not that those things are right much of the time, but history has already been played out in Gods mind. As for us, we have to live it and then see the results in hindsight.

Unfortunately, for the majority of humanity, all that they see are their own expectations from life, expectations that generally exclude God, or have some substitute divine which is more convenient for their desires.

Eliphaz, Bildad, and Job have pointed out some rather obvious truths regarding life. They lived about 4500 years ago. Long before our current science and technology. How can they possibly be smarter than any of us?

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
