You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 5:23
23 For thou shalt be in league [bariyth] with the stones ['eben] of
the field [sadeh]: and the beasts [chay] of the field [sadeh] shall
be at peace [shalam] with thee. KJV-Interlinear
23 'For you will be in league with the stones of the field;
And the beasts of the field will be at peace with you. NASB
Anyone
who is at peace with God, is by default at peace with the whole of
creation. Jesus Christ controls
history. Today you can't put your hand
inside a cobra's den, that isn't the point of this concept.
The
'stones of the field,' is an idiom, a figure of speech, for the working
relationships that people have in this world.
The stones refer to the agriculture based economies that existed back in
Job's day, wherein the farmers or workers had an understanding with the
workings of the field.
Today
you could say that a basketball player, who is shooting very well, has an
understanding between his hands, the basketball, and the goal. It just means that everything is going his
way and working well.
The
'beasts of the field' is another idiom for the general workings of the
jungle. God has neutralized the jungle
with respect to the life of the mature believer, that life just sails
along. He might even seem, to an
outsider, to have a charmed life.
Is
the mature believer's life perfect, error free, and trouble free? No.
This is the devils world, and trouble comes in its many forms. The troubles just don't seem to bother the
mature believer as much as they do a non-mature person.
Why?
Because
the mature believer has built up capacity for life. He has built up a mental stability because of
the doctrine in his soul. He has developed a relaxed mental attitude, and the
problems, whether great or small, just don't bother him.
The
laughing at violence and famine, the lack of fear of the beasts of the previous
verse, is that relaxed attitude toward life.
When God takes care of everything for you, and He does whether you agree
with it or not, then once you begin to realize that principle of life, then
your worries begin to fade. You can
enjoy life more.
Whether
your problems are a broken toaster, flat tire, or something relatively minor,
or whether your problems are major universe busters, or anything in between,
then as a mature believer you have poise and the presence of mind to deal with
them in the appropriate fashion.
When
you fall, you get right back up. When
you are knocked down, you get right back up on your feet. When you make a mistake, you learn from it
and try again. You never quit. You never give up.
So
again, is the mature believer's life perfect, error free, and trouble
free? No. The Bible doctrine he has developed within
their soul from years of daily Bible study has given him a fortress within his
soul with which to face life's difficulties, no matter what they might be.
You
are in league with the stones, and at peace with the beasts. This world is a jungle when Gods influence is
excluded. We have to live within that
jungle for a little while, while in this life.
But God gives us the resources to live above the jungle environment and
have a good life in spite of the jungle.
Those resources are Bible doctrines, which are transferred into your
soul by means of a daily study. A study,
which is designed to be ongoing for your entire life.
One
more thing that the mature believer understands, is that this life is not all
that there is going to be. We are living
only a temporary life here in this world.
Our real life will come in eternity, and that will last forever. This
life is the small stuff. The next life
is for keeps. So don't sweat the small
stuff, but look to the bigger picture.
