Job 5:10-11

10 Who giveth [nathan] rain [matar] upon [paniym] the earth ['erets], and sendeth [shalach] waters [mayim] upon [paniym] the fields [chuwts]:

11 To set up [suwm] on high [marowm] those that be low [shaphal]; that those which mourn [qadar] may be exalted [sagab] to safety [yesha`]. KJV-Interlinear

10 'He gives rain on the earth, And sends water on the fields, 11 So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety. NASB

Gods blessing is distributed upon the just as well as the unjust. Common grace is a grace, which applies to all of humanity. Here Eliphaz mentions the rains, but that could easily be expanded to all things in life common to all peoples. Whether it be the air we breathe, or the biological functions of our bodies, or the applications of divine establishment principles such as volition, marriage, freedom and so forth.

God gives the rain broadly across the lands of the earth. God also gives rain, or common blessing, to specific fields, or to specific individuals as their individual needs arise.

The rains mentioned, are rains that come on a regular basis. Remember that Eliphaz and Job live in a region that, today, is extremely dry and barren. Yet back in their day, some 4500 years ago, this was not the case. Those lands were filled with forests and rains. A totally different environment existed back then.

If you have seen some of the recent documentaries on the Sphinx in Egypt, then you know that its erosion was caused by rains, not blowing sand. In fact lots of rain, which occurred over the course of several centuries. Today that region is a huge sand pile, as the Sahara desert has virtually taken over most of northern Africa.

This is Eliphaz's point. Gods blessings are there for all to see. Likewise his cursing's are there for all to notice. What was once a beautiful region back then, is now a wasteland. Both being pictures of spiritual presence or absence in the general population.

Today Islam owns the region and the result is a wasteland of nothing. In contrast, Christianity saturates our country and we are both powerful and prosperous.

God distributes his beneficial grace without partiality, setting those who are low, to elevated and better environments.

Opportunity for the poor man is there, just as it is for the rich man. The wealthy have no hold or dominion on success, to the exclusion of those who wish to succeed.

And so in our everyday lives and throughout history, we have read self-made success stories. Even in the face of governments, and political environments, and tyrannies, which try to keep the low man low, and the elite in control.

In the spiritual realm, no man has control over the will of God, nor the thoughts of his fellow man. Through the Holy Spirit, God has set up an even better level playing field. In the spiritual arena, any person may advance to spiritual maturity and therefore guaranteed spiritual success.

Ones circumstances of life, ones environment, ones talent or lack of it, ones abilities or lack of them, ones beauty or its absence, are all irrelevant. The spiritual life is based on what you think, not on anything of this physical world.

If you did not marry the celebrity hunk or babe, if you don't have any particular talent or gift, if you are poor as a rock, if you are a nobody in this world, not to worry.

Gods blessings or rain, and that is a reference to the worldly rains, will fall on you such that you will have an income, and a life of some type, that will allow you to get through this life. Note that this is not your primary life. Eternity is.

Thus Gods blessings or rain, and now this is a reference to the spiritual rains, will fall on you if you pursue them. And in that environment you will have phenomenal blessings in this life, which probably only you will notice, and especially in eternity when the lid will be blown off of your blessing package.

In eternity you may be the beneficiary of a blessing package of abundance which far exceeds your imagination. Abundance means, more than one could possibly use if given an infinite number of lives.

That is a lot.

God is the source of all common grace, which is available to all, and even in this world, none are over looked.

God is the source of all spiritual grace, which is a more selective grace available to those who pursue his wisdom.

God is the source of all spiritual greater grace, which is even more selective and available to those who advance to spiritual maturity.
