Job 1:7

7 And the LORD [Yahovah] said ['amar] unto Satan [satan], Whence ['aiyn] comest [bow'] thou? Then Satan [satan] answered [`anah] the LORD [Yahovah], and said ['amar], From going to and fro [shuwt] in the earth ['erets], and from walking up and down [halak] in it. KJV-Interlinear

7 And the LORD said to Satan, 'From where do you come?' Then Satan answered the LORD and said, 'From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.' NASB

We already know that Satan and the angels who followed him in rebellion, are doomed to the Lake of Fire.

Matt. 25:41

41 'Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; NASB

Matt. 8:29

29 And behold, they cried out, saying, 'What do we have to do with You, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?' NASB

Those who are condemned are well aware of their sentence. They, some demons, have even accused Jesus of tormenting them in advance of their scheduled day of execution to the Lake of Fire.

So, here we have Satan, who is a condemned creature, walking freely between heaven and earth, and even all across the planet.

Satan makes a statement, in response to Gods question. God does not need to ask what Satan has been doing. God already knows. But for our benefit, this conversation is recorded, in order to show us Satan's attitude.

Satan is a condemned creature. He is moving about to and fro, quickly across the planet. The word 'shuwt' means to move about quickly as with purpose. Satan is not out for a casual walk, just to get some fresh air. He has an agenda. And that agenda is to promote havoc among humanity.

1 Peter 5:8

8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. NASB

Satan is an angel. He has tremendous mental capacities. He has tremendous powers. He can travel throughout the universe. Yet he rejected Gods redemption offer in the past, whatever that offer was, and continually rejects Gods authority, and he prefers to harass humanity on this lonely single planet, of all of the planets and galaxies in this universe.

Then again, maybe there is really nowhere else for Satan to hang out.

By placing humanity on this planet, God has control over the stage of history. God has raised a question. God initiates all action. Satan merely reacts negatively, rather than responding in some positive fashion. God called together all of the angels. Satan came too. God did not go to any meeting that Satan has called.

Satan does not and never will, call the shots of life. All people who reject truth, will never initiate a solution for anything. They will only try to criticize and complain their way into positions of power, which they do not deserve. And, if they achieve them, everyone suffers as a result.

Satan has power over the world, and misery, pain, and suffering are the result.

Satan's answer is boastful and filled with purpose and confidence. Satan is the leading liar in all of creation, and he believes his own lies.

Anyone who rejects truth, embraces lies. Anyone who rejects truth, does not recognize that, that which they love, is a lie.

By the way, this is why you will see many successful people, including politicians, celebrities, and generally popular folks, pursuing many liberal agendas. Agendas, which are philosophically antithetical to their lifestyle.

Terrorists hate the United States, yet they prefer our money over their own currencies, and our products over their own. Of course they don't have any products to speak of.

Likewise, if you are ultra conservative, then don't get your nose too high in the air. Many folks who won't chew bubble gum, won't dance on Sunday, won't wear any color but black, and similar attitudes, are guilty of the same flawed pattern of thinking.

Anyone who rejects truth, and this can include anyone on the planet, will do that which is absurd. Anyone who rejects truth, will sooner or later, go out of their way to destroy truth and the very thing that keeps them alive.

Satan is a condemned person, and yet he carries with him, an air of purpose and self-defined destiny.

'What have you been doing, Satan?'

'I have been doing my job. I have places to go, people to see, and things to do.'
