You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Isa. 66:12-13
12 For thus saith ['amar] the LORD [Yahovah], Behold,
I will extend [natah] peace [shalowm] to her like a river [nahar],
and the glory [kabowd] of the Gentiles [gowy] like a flowing [shataph]
stream [nachal]: then shall ye suck [yanaq], ye shall be borne [nasa']
upon her sides [tsad], and be dandled [sha`a`] upon her knees [berek].
13 As one ['iysh] whom his mother ['em] comforteth [nacham], so
will I comfort [nacham] you; and ye shall be
comforted [nacham] in Jerusalem [Yaruwshalaim]. KJV-Interlinear
12 For thus says the LORD, Behold, I extend peace to her
like a river, And the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; And you
shall be nursed, you shall be carried on the hip and fondled on the knees. 13 As
one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; And you shall be comforted
in Jerusalem. NASB
Even
though Jerusalem is a city over in the Middle East, this is not talking about that city. Jerusalem
is symbolism for a spiritual status. It
is the status of spiritual maturity.
Spiritual
maturity is accomplished by persisting in a daily study of the Word of God
while in fellowship, learning and coming to an understanding about life and
reality, and eventually developing genuine wisdom and faith as a result.
The
combination of understanding and wisdom combined with faith brings you to the
point of peace and confidence. This is
the state referred to as Jerusalem,
the city of peace.
In
her, Jerusalem,
in her, spiritual maturity, in her, inner peace, in her, in a maximum state of
interaction with God, there is peace and more.
In
her is a river, a large river, a large river flowing at flood stage, which
represents blessings flowing from God to the mature believer.
A
large river flowing out from heaven to you, is an endless river, an endless
fountain, an artesian fountain of blessings, which come to you without any
effort on your part.
In
spiritual maturity, God treats you as a mother treats her child. She bounces the child on her knees, holds the
child to her breast with tender and deep love for the child, as we studied
yesterday.
The
mother, a caring and loving mother, wants only the most and the very best for
her child. And, a mother who has the
wherewithal and the means to provide for her child, will stop at nothing to see
that the child is provided for and receives the very best that life has to
offer.
This
is the state that exists between God and the mature believer in general, within
the parameters of Gods divine plan for history as well as for the spiritually
mature person. But also, this will be
the status of life in the Millennium when it comes into existence at the Second
Advent.
Our
passage here in Isaiah, in these last few chapters, is directed at both believers
in general for their own benefit and spiritual confidence, but it is also specifically
directed at those mature believers who are trying to survive the final days of
the Tribulation.
Their
phenomenal hopes and dreams constructed from Gods promises, will help to get them
through their ordeal of the Tribulation and into the Millennium where their
hopes will become a reality.
Gods
policy for the population of the Millennium will be one of tremendous nurturing
and care.
And,
since this is the last era of human history, it will also demonstrate that even
with all of the phenomenal circumstances and blessings in the Millennium, there
will still be a huge population of folks who will reject Jesus Christ as their
Lord and Savior, and they will be unhappy despite the prosperity of the
Millennium.
This
will still demonstrate that faith in Christ and spiritual growth to maturity,
is still required in order for one to come to an appreciation of Gods blessings,
and advance to a true happiness.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
