Isa. 65:10
10 And Sharon [Sharown] shall be a
fold [naveh] of flocks [tso'n], and the valley [`emeq] of
Achor [`Akowr] a place for the herds [baqar] to lie down in [rebets],
for my people [`am] that have sought [darash] me. KJV-Interlinear
10 And Sharon shall be a
pasture land for flocks, And the valley
of Achor a resting place
for herds, For My people who seek Me. NASB
Sharon
is the general description of the vast region to the west of Jerusalem,
running all of the way to the coast on the Mediterranean. Isaiah describes it as a vast wasteland in
Isaiah 33:9.
Achor
is the region to the east of Jerusalem all the
way into Jordan. It means trouble, for from the east came
many enemies and a great deal of trouble for the Israelites from the time of
Joshua through the time of David.
But
now, the region on both sides of Jerusalem
is described as peaceful and it will one day be replenished with vast herds and
flocks of cattle and sheep. This
replenishment will not take place until after the Second Advent of Christ.
This
will be another blessing of prosperity for the remnant that survives the
tribulation and goes into the Millennium.
Not
only will there be prosperity, but these areas, once they have been cleared
away of all of the death of Armageddon, will be the most secure and safe area
to live in, since probably the time of Noah.
Sharon,
often times is a reference to the coastal region that covers the modern day Gaza to Tel Aviv. Generally believed to have been originally
settled by Japheth, the son of Noah, for which the city of Joppa was named. Joppa was located in the place of modern day
Tel Aviv.
Then
at some point prior to the time of Abraham, the region was settled by the
descendents of Ham, and became known as the land of Canaan. Subsequently, during the time of Judges
through the time of David, the land was known as Palestine or the land of the Philistines.
From
the time of the Assyrian invasion to the time of Christ, and from the time of
Christ s first advent to the time of the Crusades, to our current day, the
region surrounding Jerusalem has been a place of violence, as one country after
another or one group of people after another, have tried to occupy and rule the
region.
In
our current day, Gaza and the West
Bank are constant regions of violence and trouble. Both located on either side of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem has been the center of trouble for nearly its entire
history. Save for the time of
Melchizedek, when he was the King/Priest of Salem,
Jerusalem s
original name, which was in Abraham s day.
Jerusalem will again become a place of peace, prosperity and
security, when one greater than Melchizedek arrives to take possession of the
land. That person is Jesus Christ of
course, and He will take possession of the land at the Second Advent.
Though
history has seen nothing but trouble in the Middle East,
there will come a time when all of the trouble will be no more. That won t be until the Second Advent, and
that time won t occur until the trouble in the region has peaked with
Armageddon. But that day, with
certainty, will arrive.
But
again, that day will only be for those who seek Christ, and no one else.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
