You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Isa. 63:11-14
11 Then he remembered [zakar] the days [yowm] of old [`owlam], Moses [Mosheh], and his
people [`am], saying, Where is he that brought
them up [`alah] out of the sea [yam] with the shepherd [ra`ah]
of his flock [tso'n]? where is he that put [suwm] his holy [qodesh] Spirit [ruwach] within [qereb] him?
12 That led [yalak] them by the
right hand [yamiyn] of Moses [Mosheh] with his glorious [tiph'arah] arm [zarowa`], dividing [baqa`] the water [mayim] before [paniym] them, to make [`asah]
himself an everlasting [`owlam] name [shem]?
13 That led [yalak] them through
the deep [tahowm], as an horse [cuwc] in the wilderness [midbar],
that they should not stumble [kashal]?
14 As a beast [bahemah] goeth down
[yarad] into the valley [biq`ah], the Spirit [ruwach] of the
LORD [Yahovah] caused him to rest [nuwach]: so didst thou lead [nahag]
thy people [`am], to make [`asah] thyself a glorious [tiph'arah] name [shem]. KJV-Interlinear
11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses.
Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock?
Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them, 12 Who caused His glorious arm to go at the
right hand of Moses, Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an
everlasting name, 13 Who led them
through the depths? Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not stumble; 14 As the cattle which go down into the
valley, The Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. So didst Thou lead Thy people, To
make for Thyself a glorious name. NASB
The
remnant is referred to as a collective group.
They recall the days of the Exodus, when the people were led by Moses,
out of Egypt. They came to the Red Sea,
where they were held there by the waters.
As
the world approached them, that is Pharaoh, then God parted the waters, giving
them a dry path across the sea, with walls of water on both sides.
Here
is a description of the path they walked over.
Like a horse walking through the wilderness.
The
people had a very easy time to accomplish their escape. They did not have to rush. A horse walking through the wilderness, is a
reference to a horse walking over level ground.
No obstacles, no barriers, no unsure footing was in front of them.
For
both young and old, for the pregnant and the very fit, the path through the sea
bottom was an easy one.
When
one considers a field or pond of water, and then drains that water off, you
immediately find on its bottom, mud and slime and debris of all kinds. No so with this expedition.
The
bottom was dry. Nearly two-million
strong, plus their livestock, again you would expect a very mucked up path once
they had all crossed over. But the path,
though it was below water long before the Israelites arrived, was made to be
dry and passable by all.
The
approach into the sea bottom, the sea bottom itself, and the exit out from the
sea, all were passable, not steep, not rocky, not difficult to manage
whatsoever.
We
are also given a picture of the path from a different perspective. The Holy Spirit.
Between
the Israelites and the Egyptians was a wall of fire, or a pillar of fire if you
prefer. On both sides of the path
through the sea were walls of water. On
the outlet was their freedom.
The
strong east wind is symbolic of the activities of the Holy Spirit who held back
the Egyptians, who held up the water, and who made the path dry and safe. This safe passage existed for as long as the
Israelites needed. They were not
rushed. They were not pushed along. They had in effect, all of the time in the
world. Pharaoh could not make a move so
long as the wall of fire held him back.
The world could not touch them.
By
this time and after the ten plagues, one would have thought that Pharaoh would
wake up to the fact that he was out matched.
Could he come up with a wall of fire like this?
But
no, the world never gives up. It keeps
on coming and keeps on coming, with but one objective, and that is to destroy
your life.
Moses
did not free the people. Moses did not make
the waters part. Moses did not hold back
the Egyptians. But, God through Moses,
demonstrated His awesome power.
Jesus
Christ controls history. Jesus Christ
executes history. But it is the Holy
Spirit through which we have the resources and the power to survive history.
It
is from within the sphere of the Holy Spirits control that we live our
spiritual life. That is what we call
being in fellowship. Inside of the
fellowship sphere, we have access to the sustaining power of the Holy
Sprit. We cannot feel it. We cannot detect it. It is just there.
How
did these people recall the days of old, the days when Moses led the people
out of Egypt, that it was not Moses who did the leading, but it was God who did
all of the work? They recalled it because
they had read the stories in the Bible, just as you have read the stories of
the Exodus, or perhaps have seen a movie about it.
They
know that the people had been surrounded by the Egyptians, and that they had
virtually no way out of their predicament, just as this remnant of the
Tribulation had no way out of their situation.
At
the time of trouble, everything seems absolutely hopeless, but after the
deliverance, then it all seems quite easy.
Your
spiritual life functions while you are within fellowship. That is the place where the power of the
Spirit functions flawlessly. Out of
fellowship, you are under the control of your sin nature and that is where the
laws of the jungle will get you.
Just
as the people in the future will be delivered from their horrendous situation
by means of the Holy Spirit, just as the people from the distant past were
delivered by means of the power of the Holy Spirit, so too, your life will be
far better if you commit yourself to being in fellowship, and therefore under the
control of the Holy Spirit.
The
success of your life is not up to your efforts, but it is in the hands of God
the Father, through Christ, and in the power of the Spirit. That is the ultimate reality of life.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
