Isaiah 10:2

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

2 To turn aside [natah] the needy [dal] from judgment, [diyn] and to take away [gazal] the right [mishpat] from the poor [`aniy] of my people, [`am] that widows ['almanah] may be their prey, [shalal] and that they may rob [bazaz] the fatherless [yathowm]! KJV-Interlinear

2 So as to deprive the needy of justice, And rob the poor of My people of their rights, In order that widows may be their spoil, And that they may plunder the orphans. NASB

Government officials or representatives certainly have the power to write and place into practice, regulations and laws. Courts and judges have the power to rule on those laws, or control court proceedings.

But too, people in general have the wherewithal to pursue unjust practices against others to their advantage when others have no such resources or advantages. Even people who apply gossip against others for no good reason but to bring harm on others.

So the previous verse applies not only to official applications of written rules, but also to people in general who write on their souls, the very bad things that bring harm in practice against others.

And all, do these things in order to pervert justice, to oppress those who lack the resources to even defend themselves either publically or privately, to deprive others of their liberties in the pursuit of their chosen lives, or whatever life they try to cling to, in this world.

Inevitably the strong take advantage of the weak, those with resources take advantage of those who lack resources, and power takes advantage of the powerless. And even those who presume themselves to be in a position of advantage like gossips, try to take advantage of someone that they believe is at their mercy.

The needy and the widows and the orphans are descriptions of those who are at a disadvantage in life, but there are certainly more folks that lack advantage too, like the not so pretty, the not so thin, the unpopular, the unemployed, those with poor credit, those who lack sophistication or dynamics for life, the handicapped, and on and on.

And in this life, where all of humanity is at Gods mercy and grace, yet many try to take away that grace from others out of pure hate or greed, and for what?

God created a vast universe, which for us, is simply the backdrop environment for human history. He did not have to create such a vast or sophisticated universe. He could have made us all teeny tiny people living in someone's back yard or in a big forest, and not so vast and not so complex.

But here we are. God has given us all a little piece of His favor, and has demonstrated that there is certainly far more to go around for all than anyone would ever need, and yet the vast majority of humanity is still not satisfied or even interested in Gods plan.

And instead of looking to God and waiting on Him, and preparing ourselves for eternity, there are those who prefer to deny others of their life from nothing more than selfish greed or hate.

Why do you suppose that is?
