23 Which
justify [tsadaq] the wicked [rasha`] for [`eqeb] reward, [shachad] and take
away [cuwr] the righteousness [tsadaqah] of the righteous [tsaddiyq]
from him! KJV-Interlinear
23 Who
justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away the rights of the ones who are in
the right! NASB
Bias in justice has long been a problem in legal matters. Corrupt judges who take bribes, or who are easily influenced or easily pressured, or who favor their own gain over the rights of those in the right, have long been a problem for society.
But this evil characteristic is not limited to judges. It can apply to legislators, government officials, business people, people in any organization, and certainly this principle of corruption can apply to the common person on the street.
Gossip is an example of this application of evil bias.
But then all evil principles are driven by the absence of truth.
Without truth, which is the sum total and result of understanding Bible doctrine, there are no boundaries with which to contain ones morals or standards.
All correct standards of life originate from truth. And if you do not have any boundaries, then you cannot know when you are out of bounds. And certainly you do not care.
When the sin nature drives the life, then the lusts become insatiable and want more and more, and sooner or later, the innocent, and certainly those in the right, will lose out to those who possess the power and authority to do as they please.
The only constraint on evil is truth. And the only way to manage evil is to have a majority guided by truth, such that it can manage, control and contain evil. That is usually the job of the legal system, or the military as in the case of conflicts between countries or regions and so forth.
But then again, this also applies to individual people, for it is people who make up the structures of bureaucracies or organizations or such things that usually hide behind the veil of their organization.
