1 Now will
I sing [shiyr] to my wellbeloved [yadiyd]
a song [shiyr] of my beloved [dowd] touching his vineyard. [kerem] My wellbeloved [yadiyd]
hath a vineyard [kerem] in a very fruitful [ben][shemen] hill: [qeren] KJV-Interlinear
1 Let me
sing now for my well-beloved A song of my beloved concerning His vineyard. My
well-beloved had a vineyard on a fertile hill. NASB
This chapter begins with an expression of love and provision, then changes to a rebuke for sins, and then ends with the warning of punishment.
The song for the beloved, is a song for the second person of the trinity, the savior who is Jesus Christ.
The vineyard, is often used to describe the nation of Israel, or the collective group of believers that belong to God.
The fruitful vineyard symbolizes the nation in potential, as believers who have advanced to spiritual maturity are the ones who have spiritual production. There is no other production from spiritually negative believers, and certainly not from unbelievers.
And the fruitful hill is a reference to the nation on the whole. It is elevated above all others nations, spiritually speaking and stands higher than all who are outside of the nation.
Therefore, God sings a song of deep tender and affectionate love. That song is doctrine. The gospel to bring in believers, and the details of doctrine to help them grow to their full potential and completion.
This song is not sung to any outside of the nation, other than the gospel, and is typically directed to those who are already inside of the nation, which is a reference to believers only.
The song, when heard and received, and retained, converts an otherwise unproductive vineyard, into a highly productive vineyard. In other words, unproductive believers who lack doctrine, into productive believers once they learn and retain and use doctrine.
Doctrine is that song. The Lord is the beloved, as is His word, which is doctrine. And doctrine which waters the vineyard, believers, then the vineyard becomes productive.
