Isaiah 2:7

7 Their land has also been filled with silver and gold, And there is no end to their treasures; Their land has also been filled with horses, And there is no end to their chariots. NASB

Silver and gold, treasures, horses and chariots abound in a nation that has an economy that is productive and prosperous.

But without God the prosperity is false, and the wealth is empty.

When a people has no foundation in truth, namely Bible doctrine, then all of their possessions are temporary at best, and the sense of security is a false one.

Things cannot save you. Things cannot prolong life. Things cannot defeat sin or human opinion.

And given that life in this world ends for us all, then our priority must be in consideration for the next life.

When Bible doctrine is ignored, then things, the details of life become the priority. And when the details of life are numerous in life, then they produce a sense of security and an end result or goal, for ones life.

The reality however, is that this life was never designed to be the final chapter in anyone's book, but only an introduction and preparation for the real life, eternity, that is yet to come.

We can easily look around and know and verify that all things in this world come to an end.

Generations of people end. Methods of transportation end. Food supplies end each year. Things in our lives, whether electronics or devices or gadgets galore, all fall into disrepair, are discarded and require replacement. Upgrades exist in all things. Even the ancient ruins of old are … ruined. Our physical health falls short as we age. Even the sun in the sky has a time limit on its life.

There is not one thing in this life that will continue indefinitely.

So the evidence of limitations on life is overwhelming, and yet how many people actually get it?

And for those who do get some semblance of uncertainty in their future, they still need to discern between the lies of the promises of religions and philosophy, and the truth of doctrine.

What gets in their way are the details of life, the things they pursue, the religions they invent in such a manner as to keep that which they want more than anything. And those things remain the details of life. So trapped is the reward of the ultimate selfish desires of the sin nature.

In times of prosperity and great wealth, there is no security, no happiness, no perpetuation of ones agenda, because these things simply do not exist apart from God and doctrine. The Bible calls them emptiness, vanity, nothingness. And when you invest all of your life in nothing, what wisdom is there in that?
