Haggai 2:20-22

20 And again [sheniy] the word [dabar] of the LORD [Yahovah] came unto Haggai [Chaggay] in the four [arba] and twentieth [esriym] day of the month [chodesh], saying [amar],
21 Speak [amar] to Zerubbabel [Zarubbabel], governor [pechah] of Judah [Yahuwdah], saying [amar], I will shake [ra`ash] the heavens [shamayim] and the earth [erets];
22 And I will overthrow [haphak] the throne [kicce] of kingdoms [mamlakah], and I will destroy [shamad] the strength [chozeq] of the kingdoms [mamlakah] of the heathen [gowy]; and I will overthrow [haphak] the chariots [merkabah], and those that ride [rakab] in them; and the horses [cuwc] and their riders [rakab] shall come down [yarad], every one [iysh] by the sword [chereb] of his brother [ach]. 20 Then the word of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month saying, 21 'Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah saying, 'I am going to shake the heavens and the earth. 22 'And I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the horses and their riders will go down, everyone by the sword of another.' NASB

The fourth message comes to Haggai on the same day as the third message. In it God gives the promise of the destruction of the brutal and tyrannical nations and powers of the world. He also promises the restoration and establishment of the Davidic dynasty immediately upon the destruction of all the evil powers of planet earth.

This will all occur in a matter of a few minutes, on a single day at the Second Advent of Jesus Christ.

Zarubbabel means 'descended.' He is the son of Shealtiel which means 'I have asked God.' He is the governor of Judah which means 'celebrated.'

Another item of interest is the ancestry of Zarubbabel. He is the son of Shealtiel who is the son of Neri and Jeconiah. Neri descended from David through Nathan, and Jeconiah descended from David through Solomon. This will be important to remember for tomorrow's study.

Despite the invasion and exile of the Jewish peoples from their homeland, the line of Christ was preserved and never interrupted nor destroyed. This was most probably a well known fact by the returning Jews to Judah, as even during the exile years, and even though most of the people were indifferent to the proper teaching of the scriptures, they maintained meticulous records of family lines.

The Day of the Lord has several meanings throughout the scriptures. In your personal life it is your final day or moments of life on this earth. In world history, it refers to the Second Advent of Christ, when on that final day of human history, human rule by the nations of planet earth will cease to exist.

Their death will come at the culmination of a world torn apart for the previous seven years. Unlike all of human history when mankind had flirted with self destruction in world wars, and world diseases, God had kept humanity alive and kept humanity going despite mankind's miserable record.

But one day, humanity will receive its final test and demonstration that it, humanity, cannot survive without Gods intervention.

When the Rapture occurs all Christians on the planet will be removed from the planet. Along with them, the Holy Spirit, the single restraining power against evil, will also vacate the planet, with respect to His restraint against unleashed evil.

For the next seven years the planet will descend in a very fast nose dive of hardship and evil to the point of total degeneracy and violence against itself.

At the very end of the Tribulation the nations will be aligned in total world war against each other as mentioned in verse 22 in our current passage. They will rise up against each other killing at will, with total loss of discipline in the ranks of organized militaries around the world. The heat and anger and terror of battle will make mankind lose all focus and discernment between right and wrong. The principle priority will be to kill everything and everyone around you.

At some point the focus will turn on Jerusalem. The global scapegoat and one to blame for all of the troubles of the world.

In those final weeks and days, the storm of violence will burst onto the planet like never before in history. People will be dying by the thousands and even millions every hour.

Then there will be a total blackout which will shroud the planet in total darkness. No one will be able to see their own fingers in front of their face. This will be one of the clues to those mature believers who are in hiding, that the return of Christ is imminent.

In this supernatural darkness (the second time in which it will occur in history) terror in the negative and unbelieving world will run rampant.

Then, Christ will return in a blinding white light, far brighter then the sun, and will be seen around the entire planet.

Try turning off the lights in your home at night, and then hold a very small flashlight to an apple. One side has light and the other side is in the darkness. Then get a really huge flashlight, something like one of those shop work lights and then you will see that the apple is lighted on all sides. Christ's return will be similar to that, only much brighter. It will be total bright daylight on all sides of the planet as Christ returns with clouds.

Those clouds will be you and me and all believers of this Church Age (billions of us), riding our white war horses, in our resurrection bodies. Probably screaming at the top of our resurrected lungs like wild Indians as we ride, charging the planet.

Then evil humanity on the planet will turn their combined guns and fire power toward Christ and us. A lot of good it will do them!

Christ will descend (Zerubbabel) to the planets surface in Judah, in Jerusalem, and the moment His foot touches the ground, all hell will break loose around the world. All unbelievers and negative believers around the world will die immediately, falling right where they stand.

Jesus Christ will not need guns or rockets to destroy them, but with the power of His spoken word, He will destroy all evil world wide. And, in a mater of minutes the proud and boasting powers of human empires will come to an end.
