Habakkuk 3:14-15

Lesson # Habakkuk 3:14-15
Study Material - Habakkuk 3:14-15

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Habakkuk 3:14-15

14 Thou didst strike through [naqab] with his staves [matteh] the head [ro'sh] of his villages [paraz] : they came out as a whirlwind [ca`ar] to scatter [puwts] me: their rejoicing [aliytsuwth] was as to devour [akal] the poor [aniy] secretly [mictar] .
15 Thou didst walk [darak] through the sea [yam] with thine horses [cuwc] , through the heap [chomer] of great [rab] waters [mayim] . KJV-Interlinear

14 Thou didst pierce with his own spears The head of his throngs. They stormed in to scatter us; Their exultation was like those Who devour the oppressed in secret. 15 Thou didst tread on the sea with Thy horses, On the surge of many waters. NASB

These last two verses in this section of the chapter, look to Gods awesome and total destruction of all who would oppose Him.

Now remember, even though we are speaking of nations as being enemies of God, a nation is really a collection of people with something in common - the geographical region they live in. Since people who are negative toward God in effect live within the jungle environment (as opposed to the spiritual environment), then their nation is the jungle (out of fellowship) and they are the enemy.

This could include you !!!!

There is one true nation and that is the nation of believers in Christ. In the Old Testament the nation of Israel is the concept teaching the principle of the chosen people of God.

Even though the nation to the north, Babylon, or as they were known prior to their empire, the Chaldeans, represent the concept of all evil people who oppose God and His people.

The only real resource which allows on to see life clearly is Bible doctrine in the soul. Lacking that, a person sees only fog. To that end, negative people are driven by their sin nature. This is a driving force which will drive them into frustration, and then anger or depression, and then violence to others or to self.

Nothing that they do will ever succeed. This results in frustration. And when life gets really bad, then negative people will lash out at anyone and everyone. This is our verse. Negative people driven to their wits end, will begin destroying one another. They will turn on their own kind (other negative people).

With their own weapons, they will destroy themselves.

So God really sets back, as the enemy drives his own spear into his own foot.

The negative of the world seek to attain whatever they deem worthy, on their own terms. They eventually storm into the domain of the righteous (those who are positive toward God), and try to destroy the righteous. Their methods will become their own demise.

What negative people seek in their gossip, their lies, their misplaced beliefs, will become their own undoing. They are the source of their own destruction, in other words.

Even though life is not great, the negative types will celebrate their self defined successes. They will party and gloat over any failure of the righteous. They will celebrate any destruction of those who do not deserve destruction. You might recall some of the celebrations in certain parts of the world when those airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York a few years back.

The gloating of the wicked will turn to gore, their pride to panic, and they will suddenly attack one another in deadly confusion. This is the destiny of the negative person.

The sea in the Bible is often a reference to the nations of the world. Nations plural, in that they have many beliefs other than the truth of the scriptures. Only one nation (Gods people) is the true nation.

The sea storms and makes big waves, but it always flows back into its defined boundaries. The nations of mankind try as they may to get outside of themselves, but mankind cannot leave his defined limitations of his physical body, his soul, his sin nature, his inability to redefine or recreate life.

God rides the waves at it were, on His horses. Driving the horses that pull His royal chariot across the seas who can do nothing to stop or alter His course.

Though the seas will kick up and churn from time to time, the churning of mankind (whether by individual, nation, or empire) can never, on his own, escape the trap of his chains - sin and death.

Only God can help in that matter.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
