Genesis 3:1-5

Lesson # Genesis 3:1-5
Study Material - Genesis 3:1-5

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Gen. 3:1-5

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, 'Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?' 2 And the woman said to the serpent, 'From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said,' You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.' 4 And the serpent said to the woman, 'You surely shall not die! 5 'For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'

Rev. 12:9, the serpent is Satan, who has indwelled some form of animal. Perhaps a snake, like a cobra, but this serpent had the capacity of speech like parrots or parakeets. Animals with speech only imitate the sounds they hear. They are incapable of carrying on a conversation.

Eve was probably fascinated with this animal and kept it as a pet. It spoke with her and she with it. She probably taught it the words it knows. But while she was spending time with the serpent, she was obviously not spending time with Adam, nor in her Bible class sessions.

Eve was conversing with an animal. Adam was conversing with God, Jesus Christ, as he walked in the garden with them daily. Eve did not notice that the speech of the serpent had taken on a different format. It was not merely imitating words, but was actually having a conversation with her. This did not catch her attention.

Satan closely watched the two humans and discovered the Eve was the weaker of the two, with respect to her attention to God, therefore Satan's attack against mankind was launched against the woman.

Satan guided her (Eve's) attention on the single tree they were not allowed to eat from, by questioning if she could eat from 'every' tree. Evil is very subtle. Often times we can be fooled if we are not on our toes and alert to the things that are going on around us. Eve responded with one simple error. She said they could not touch the tree, or the food on it. God never mentioned anything about touching it. The only restriction was that they could not eat from it.

So Eve was not paying attention to the instructions she was given. Further, she did not understand the concept of good and evil. The opportunity of becoming like God obviously interested her. Satan was the one interested in becoming like God. And more than that, he wanted to be greater than God.

Satan is under judgment for the lake of fire, but he is not there yet, thus the history of mankind was unfolded to prove God's perfect wisdom and the utter failure of Satan's wisdom. Satan did not attempt to help man, but to destroy him in order to destroy God and elevate himself. Evil people think of self, and do not care about the repercussions or hurt to others.

Satan used deceit and lies to fool the woman. The woman fell to this deceit because she was not alert in her knowledge of Bible doctrine, nor did she have the facts straight in her mind. An apathetic attitude, a disinterested attitude, hinders the learning process. Doctrine in the soul provides clarity of thought, but a negative attitude rejects truth, and takes in false information. Your soul is constantly taking in information. If you are alert with doctrine, then you are not easily fooled. If you have very little doctrine, or waver in your Bible study, then you expose yourself to being fooled by even the simplest things in life.

Satan used lust, or the carrot of lust, to entice Eve. To be like God. Even though she had no concept of what that might be. Too often we are surrounded with get rich quick schemes, and we often overlook the obvious drawbacks because we are so deep in the desire of getting rich. We fool ourselves, and generally we know it, but we hope or wish for the things we want anyway.

The one true source of wealth comes from Spiritual maturity. It might not make you the next billionaire in this life, but certainly in the next life, and that is the objective of us all like Moses who looked to the promise of rewards in eternity. Moses had the riches of Egypt before him and he turned his back on it all for doctrine.

Here Satan thought that by causing man to fail, and by separating man from God eternally, then he, Satan, would win the angelic conflict. But Satan looked only at the righteousness and justice of God. He overlooked God's love. Evil people are always short sighted. When you live in the dark you cannot see very far. Therefore you cannot see the outcome of your own evil plots as they work against you.

Isa. 14:29, Satan uses things that fascinate us. The serpent could imitate words as we have seen. But in Isaiah the serpent is described and as flying animal of a kind and out of its root came Satan, or evil. Satan does not show himself to Adam or Eve. But God walked with them in the garden. Satan represents evil and therefore cannot interact directly with them. Evil or sin, is always coming out of the darkness. Satan is generally never in the light for all to see, until the end time when Christ will chain Satan and throw him into prison for 1000 years. Then all will see him for what he really is.

Prov. 4:15, We are commanded to pass by evil, and avoid it. But Eve was not at her husbands side which was her place. She was out of the will of God, and therefore not where she was supposed to be. Anyone, who avoids doctrine is outside the will of God. So what is the will of God we all ask? And that is to be advancing in our spiritual growth. To be in fellowship with God, thus allowing the Holy Spirit to be in control of our soul and not the sin nature. And by the way this is not an emotional experience. You can have a bad headache and be in fellowship. It (fellowship) is obtained by naming your sins in the format of a list to God the Father, to whom all prayers are addressed. See the prayer chart on the Index page under Images.

2 Cor. 2:11 and Rev. 2:24, Satan is capable of extreme evil and his evil is deeper than our knowledge. Man cannot outsmart Satan except by means of doctrine in the soul as Eph. 6:11 refers to it, doctrine, as the full armor of God. Bible doctrine is our only defense and protection from Satan, his policies, and the thinking of this world which is strongly influenced by the policies of Satan.

Prov 14:7 and 19:27 warn us to avoid interacting with evil, with things that are not consistent with God's policies or truth. Because if you enter into a relationship with sin, you will lose. Sin and evil are greater than any of us. It is only God who is greater than evil. And if we study consistently then He, doctrine, Jesus Christ, who is in us is greater than he, Satan, who is in this world. But we sometimes disregard the truth 1 John 2:21 even though we know it, and so we fool ourselves and walk in our imaginations Deu. 29:19. Why? Because the power of the lust complex in us strongly desires to gratify itself, and doctrine is the only protection against letting the sin nature ruin our lives.

Eve broke a lot of rules because of lack of clear thought. She was open to deceitful wisdom and she will grab at it. And she will realize her mistake too late. Once you have crossed the line, there are no take overs from the source of your own ability. Only God can make things right.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
