Gen. 2:1-3 1 Thus the heavens [shamayim] and the earth [erets] were finished [kalah], and all the host of them [tsaba]. 2 And on the seventh [shabiy`iy] day [yowm] God [elohiym] ended [kalah] his work [mala'kah] which he had made [asah]; and he rested [shabath] on the seventh [shabiy`iy] day [yowm] from all his work [mala'kah] which he had made [asah]. 3 And God [elohiym] blessed [barak] the seventh [shabiy`iy] day [yowm], and sanctified [qadash] it: because [kiy] that in it he had rested [shabath] from all his work [mala'kah] which God [elohiym] created [bara] and made [asah]. KJV-Interlinear 1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2 And by the seventh day God completed His work which He had done; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. NASB
In the first six days of this restoration, God completed that which He intended to accomplish. Item by item He names them the hosts, the armies, all of the arrangements of the universe, the stars, the plant life, the sea life, the bird life, the animal life, and man.
In Adam was the host of the human race. Though Adam was alone initially we have the implied promise that the host of the human race and thus the history of humans would take place as planned and without interference. Dan. 4:35, God does all according to His will. Ecc. 3:14, there is nothing that can be added to or taken away from God's work.
Neither Satan nor man can change anything that God has set forth in His decrees. See the 'decrees' diagram in the image section on the index page on the web site, or in the appendix of this book.
God looked as all of the possible combinations of everything in the universe and selected the one plan that was best for us all, and set that plan into motion.
By the seventh day, at the end of the sixth day, all had been accomplished and so God rested. The word 'shabath' which is often referred to as the Sabbath, means to cease work with nothing further left to do.
But that refers to creation. John 5:17, God is working even now, but as to the governing of history. All His creations were accomplished in Genesis 1. God is not creating any new species or galaxies, but He is creating our spiritual lives within us by means of His word. Jesus Christ controls history and thus constantly watches over us and keeps his host of angels constantly on the move doing his will and performing their assigned tasks. See the study on Jacob's ladder.
We are given this rest but only by means of our spiritual growth. Jer. 6:16, the good old way of rest is given in the pattern of the seventh day when God rested. The Sabbath however was rejected by people throughout the generations in history. Heb. 3:11, here we are told that the Israelites would never enter into God's rest. This is because they rejected His Word, His will, His advice.
God did all the work necessary for our lives and our future. He did it Himself. Angels did not help. Man did not help. We can not add to nor change the work that God has done.
So now we have the concept of the Sabbath, the seventh day of rest. Typically that is referred to as Saturday, the seventh day of rest. But we celebrate this rest on Sunday, the first day of the week because of the resurrection of Christ on the first day, the day of first fruits. Christ is the first to be resurrected. We will be the next at the rapture.
This rest, this Sabbath, is just a ritual, a day of the week that repeats constantly throughout the year as a reminder of God and our spiritual obligation. Most follow this ritual without regard to its meaning. It has become just another day of the week for a kind of social event.
God rested in the perpetual sense demonstrating to us that our rest should be moment by moment. With spiritual growth and attainment of spiritual maturity we enter into His rest, which the Israelites in their negative attitude did not attain.
Spiritual maturity and constantly being in fellowship with God means that you are inside His sphere of power, under the control of the Holy Spirit. That same power that sustained Christ on the Cross, that same power that created and subsequently restored the universe and this world, that same power that controls history and provides all you will ever need in this life on a daily basis.
Faith is the weapon you use and is constructed from the doctrine in your soul. The more you learn, the more you grow, the more strength you attain in the spiritual sense. And the more stability you will have in your life.
God created us in His image, in that invisible image of the format of the soul that contains mentality, volition, emotion, conscience, self-consciousness, and so forth. No other life form has this pattern except perhaps the angels.
God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, which means He called it 'clean', free from any defect, free from sin, free from blemish. And such is the soul which attains spiritual maturity status and remains in fellowship. You soul is free from defects.
As we get into the details of the sacrifices we will see the purpose of their meaning. Why the animals had to be free from defect, the perfect sacrifice.
God created the first soul 'clean', but man alone messed it up in his apathy, which Eve demonstrated, and by his decision, which Adam demonstrated.
As each day goes by you have a choice. Actually every moment of the day you have choices. To remain in fellowship, or to get back into fellowship when you sin in some way, and to study your Bible faithfully on a regular basis. Positive choices will render you strong in doctrine and in your spiritual life and secure your eternal rewards.
Negative decisions will render you weak in your spiritual life and will cause you to lose those eternal rewards. Note that you can never lose your salvation nor eternal life nor your resurrection body. The rewards potential are those that are above and beyond the basic gifts of salvation we all receive from God as a result of believing in Christ.
As Adam represents the hosts of mankind, so all the various life forms represent the hosts of their respective categories of life. Man did not come from fish or mush. Plants did not come from mush. There is no common life source from which all life came into existence. God created it all, not evolution.
Likewise the stars were all created simultaneously at some point in the past. There are no new stars, nor new galaxies being created contrary to popular belief in astronomical circles. At the end of those six days, all that is now, was provided for at that time.
Just as all races which we have today (black, white, red, yellow, brown), came out of Adam, one man, so too the many breeds of animals came out of some single original source, which God perpetuated out from the Garden, and subsequently out from the Ark of Noah. Again, no evolution, no mutations so to speak. All that we have today (man, animals, plants, disease, etc.), have been around since the beginning.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
