Daily Bible Study Gen.. 1:3-5 3 And God [elohiym] said [amar], Let there be [hayah] light [owr]: and there was light [owr]. 4 And God [elohiym] saw [ra'ah] ['eth] the light [owr], that [kiy] it was good [towb]: and God [elohiym] divided [badal] [beyn] the light [owr] from [beyn] the darkness [choshek]. 5 And God ['elohiym] called [qara'] the light ['owr] Day [yowm], and the darkness [choshek] he called [qara'] Night [layil]. And the evening [ereb] and the morning [boqer] were the first ['echad] day [yowm]. KJV-Interlinear 3 Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. NASB 'Then God said...', God speaks and through the power of his word, events happen. Jesus Christ is the word. Jesus Christ is the creator of the universe. The Father is the author and planner of our history, but Christ exercised His power and spoke and the first event of the restoration of the world was the creation of light. Out of darkness light came. Light is necessary to see and understand. In darkness there is no orientation, no knowledge. God represents the light and truth. Satan represents darkness, the absence of light and the lie of creation, the false wisdom's and philosophies, and deceitful knowledge which misleads and promotes disillusionment in life. The first thing brought to the soul of man is the Holy Spirit, as it moved over the earth to bring life to it, so also, the Holy Spirit moves over the individual to create a human spirit when the individual believes in Christ. The light is imputed into the spirit of man, which is eternal life, and not only brings the basis for clarity of thought but brings the basic building blocks for the life of the individual depending on the volition of the individual, of course. Thus the lines of battle are established in the angelic conflict. Light and darkness and clearly separated. This allows discernment and clarifies the issues in life. Therefore, no one has nor can they have an excuse for the decisions they make in life. Everyone at one time or another in their life, comes up against problems. They make excuses. They blame others for their problems. They blame God. 'Why did I live now?' 'Why wasn't I born rich?' 'Why did this happen to me?' The list is endless, but the point is that people focus on their problems, rather than the solution. Or they hustle after a solution in the worldly sense rather than looking to God for the solution. The first order of business was to set the boundaries for God's viewpoint verses Satan's viewpoint. Thus at His command, light was created instantly. Out of the darkness God created the light. Satan caused the darkness with his rebellion. God restored the light by His spoken word. Satan by his actions and over time destroyed what God had originally created perfect. God had only to speak and through His power, creation came into being instantly. Again the angels were witness to this event. Having seen the destruction which Satan and his cohorts had caused and then observing the order being brought out of the chaos by means of God's spoken word. In each of our lives order in brought out of the chaos of this world, but only when we are positive to God's word. As we learn doctrine, we grow up spiritually and stabilize in the power of his word, just as the earth was stabilized in the power of His word. The light is good. Gods word is good. Everything else is relative and not good. From God's Word comes all things that are beautiful. In the light of His word all truth is seen and can be understood. Apart from the light there is chaos, disorder, and misery. The light is good. From God's evaluation of the light, His Word is all that is necessary to start the recovery from darkness, from eternal separation from God is then accomplished. So the basic building block of life is light, God's Word. On that foundation all things good are constructed. Christ is the light of this world, the light of this universe, and Christ is the Word of God, which is light. So all things in life begin with God and from Him, His Word. Your life depends on your attitude toward God and your daily study of His Word. You have many decisions to make in your life, and they are daily decisions. You can continue in your poor me attitude, and spend your life wallowing in your misery. Or you can change your attitude and turn to God and get your life back on track. Placing your life in His hands by studying His Word daily, growing up spiritually, and letting God run your life for you. Just as God restored the world many millennium ago, so God saw your life in eternity past and made provisions for you in all of the problems you will face. Focus on God, not on your problems. 'And the evening and the morning was the first day.' God named the light, and He called it day. He named the dark, and He called it night. Though God is not the source of darkness, He has control over all that exists. God controls history. God created the light, and separated it from the darkness. He did not create the darkness. In the first 24 hours, for this is the meaning of the word 'yowm', the passing of one evening and one morning, or one 24 hour period. Not a passing of an era, or a block of time in increments of billions of years, but a single 24 hour period. The period of the dinosaurs has already passed. Satan has already destroyed them. Now God has established the basic mechanism for reminding mankind that there is a light and a dark, a good and an evil, a God and a Satan, and salvation and a condemnation. In every day of your life you should be reminded of God and the choices that you have to make by the mere turning of the earth on its axis. The evening and the morning sets the time and the repetition of our everyday life. We have beginnings and endings in our life. We have choices and a set time frame for making those decisions. To ignore your responsibility to learn God's Word and pursue your own goals in your own ignorance, is the quintessence of stupidity. Each of our lives will come to its evening and death in this life. Then the realities of eternal life lay before us. Better to make the right decisions during this life and before it is too late, than to discover that you have been the fool all your life and not have any chance to recover. God has given each of us a specified number of evenings and mornings, He gave each of us His Word, and pretty soon we will see that He gave us volition. The three ingredients for determining the course of our future. So now the choice is clear, light or darkness. There is nothing to do. God excluded all of mans works in creation, in restoration, and in history. Note that man did not have any input in the activities of Gods original work. No regulations, no government, no environmentalists, nothing from mankind. So also, we have no input in God's plan even now. We cannot work for our salvation, we cannot work to keep this planet in tact, but we have responsibilities in how we function in life. We can be responsible or irresponsible - our choice. Likewise we reap the rewards of our decisions accordingly. Good for good, bad for bad. 'And the evening and the morning is the first day.' God has a plan. He set out to accomplish a specific task within a specific time frame, and He did. In your life God has an objective, which is to see you advance to spiritual maturity. You are the only potential opponent. The events of this world have no effect on your thinking decisions or God's ability to accomplish His objectives. Though Satan and his fallen comrades were present, they could not prevent the restoration of this planet. Nothing in life can prevent you from advancing to maturity if you are positive in your attitude toward God. He will provide you the means and method. If you have not believed in Christ, then lay the initial foundation, the first day of your life by believing in Christ and beginning your road to recovery. If you are a believer in Christ, then make the decisions regularly as the earth rotates regularly and advance to maturity. For as God causes this earth to rotate, so He will cause your life to continue in blessing and prosperity.
