Eze. 39:1
1 Therefore, thou son [ben] of man ['adam], prophesy [naba'] against Gog [Gowg], and say
['amar], Thus saith ['amar] the Lord ['Adonay] GOD [Yahovih]; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog [Gowg], the chief [ro'sh] prince [nasiy'] of Meshech [Meshek] and
Tubal [Tuwbal]: KJV-Interlinear
1 And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, 'Thus
says the Lord GOD, Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech,
and Tubal; NASB
In
chapter 38, we saw the plan of God, verses the plan of the empire to the
north. The northern commander, Gog,
conspired with the nations immediately west, south and east of Israel, today s Arab nations, in a plan to
invade and destroy Israel.
The
plan was for the Arab nations to attack first and hold Israel in its
borders, and also prevent any counterattack from the European, or Far Eastern
nations. Then the Northern king would
attack into Israel
and thus they would all enjoy the victory.
That
was the jest of the plan as far as anyone knew.
But, the Northern King had other ideas.
He was going to betray and double
cross the southern nations. He was going
to overrun Israel, and invade
far into Africa and Persia, today s
Iran,
and take everything for himself.
Likewise,
God had given all of the participant s knowledge of His plan, verses their plan. That knowledge is what we are studying right
now. These kings will know of the
ancient prophecies, especially Gog, the king of the north, but they will all
ignore Gods warning. Prophecy is
meaningless to those who reject the Bible.
Gods
warning? The attack that is going to be made
against Israel,
will be met with a greater counterattack from God, and all of the invading
forces will be thoroughly destroyed. Not
only their forces, but their countries of origin too, will be thoroughly
destroyed.
Of
course, this alliance of nations does not believe anything mentioned in the
Bible. Just as many people of our
current day, do not take the Bible very seriously. Some might believe its content, as far as
they pertain to the laws of establishment, at least on the surface, but most do
not subscribe to the fundamental spiritual principles taught in the Bible. Principles with regard to the spiritual life.
Now
in chapter 39, we will see the thoroughness with which God will decimate the
invading armies. Since the king of the
north hatched the plan, he will receive the bulk of Gods wrath. The nations of the south did not initiate the
plan, but they eagerly and willingly went along with it, and for that, they would
pay their ultimate price in betrayal.
Chapter
39 addresses the northern power. Gog is
the identity of the leader, and Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, all descendants of
Japheth, identify regions to the north of Israel. Later on Magog will be mentioned, and that
identifies regions to the far distant north.
All
of these regions combined, identify what were formerly known as the Soviet
block of nations, with a few more nations, such as Turkey, added into the mix. It stands to reason that after the Rapture,
some of the eastern European nations will be weakened, and will fall into the realm
of the King of the North.
The
northern power intended to take the spoils of Israel. In fact, Israel will be given the spoils of
all of the invading nations. There will
be enough food and fuel, to last them into the Millennium for seven years.
The
northern power intended to kill off all who opposed them. In fact, it is they who will be killed, and
their casualty rate, will be one-hundred percent, killed in action.
The
northern power anticipated having a great feast to celebrate their victory. In fact, it is the birds and the beasts of
the field, who will have the feast. A
feast, that will last for seven months.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
