Eze. 6:8-10

8 Yet will I leave a remnant [yathar], that ye may have some that shall escape [paliyt] the sword [chereb] among the nations [gowy], when ye shall be scattered [zarah] through the countries [erets].
9 And they that escape [paliyt] of you shall remember [zakar] me among the nations [gowy] whither they shall be carried captives [shabah], because I am broken [shabar] with their whorish [zanah] heart [leb], which hath departed [cuwr] from me, and with their eyes [ayin], which go a whoring [zanah] after [achar] their idols [gilluwl]: and they shall lothe [quwt] themselves [paniym] for the evils [ra] which they have committed [asah] in all their abominations [tow`ebah].
10 And they shall know [yada] that I am the LORD [Yahovah], and that I have not said [dabar] in vain [chinnam] that I would do [asah] this evil [ra] unto them. KJV-Interlinear

8 'However, I shall leave a remnant, for you will have those who escaped the sword among the nations when you are scattered among the countries. 9 'Then those of you who escape will remember Me among the nations to which they will be carried captive, how I have been hurt by their adulterous hearts which turned away from Me, and by their eyes, which played the harlot after their idols; and they will loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed, for all their abominations. 10 'Then they will know that I am the LORD; I have not said in vain that I would inflict this disaster on them.'' NASB

Not everyone dies in one of Gods judgments. Some survive. How many, is never known, and that is the great risk that anyone takes when they try to fight God to the last minute. Sometimes, if you were an observer standing outside of history, you might be surprised at who is taken in judgment and who is spared.

But God can look down the tunnel of time and see the future offspring, even generations down the line, of an individual, and spare an individual now, because of their future descendants. Of course a person can be spared because they themselves will change inside of their own soul.

Judgments might take those spared, to parts unknown. You might be transferred to another geographical area for a different job. Certainly the Israelites in Jerusalem were transported to foreign countries, even against their own will.

They didn't want to go, and would not have gone on their own. But God knowing their future repentance, took them by force (the cursing) and removed them to a better place where they would find God, salvation (if necessary) and doctrine (their blessing).

This has happened a lot in history. Peoples have always, in times past, been attacked, and taken into slavery, sold and transported across the world. They then find God in their lives. Their cursing is turned into blessing. This is done by God because they otherwise would not have taken the trip for themselves away from their former home, moving away, even to a foreign place where they don't know the customs or the language.

In the case of Jerusalem, the people were degenerate to the core. Most refused to follow God and the scriptures. This creates an environment which is negative and not good for others who might become interested, but otherwise ignore God because it is a frowned upon practice. When peer pressure and the practices of society frown upon Christianity, then one tends to ignore it. So God does what is necessary to make doctrine available to those who are interested.

The people of Jerusalem, and Judah on the whole, were of an adulterous mind. Adultery is the act of one who is married, to seek out companionship (sex) with someone else who is also married, but they are not married to each other.

This is a cheating, if you will, of one spouse against their other spouse. Intimacy belongs to the marriage, and between the two married people - husband and wife. They each, in marriage, belong to the other. Any claim or misuse such as in adultery is a theft of the spouse's, who was cheated on, rights.

In the spiritual realm, we, humanity, are the female part of the relationship with God. He is the male aspect of our relationship. Gods doctrine enters into our soul and that forms the basis and picture of our intimacy with God. It is personal and private between the person and God. That unity of doctrine in the soul becomes our fulfillment and completion.

When the person rejects God, and pursues other philosophies of the world, then that negative person is an adulterous, spiritually speaking.

The harlot is a lady of the night. She goes around and presents herself with the enticements of her physical body and the opportunity for sex, not for free of course, but for money. There is a price to pay when one seeks pleasures in this world.

Again, God provides pleasures which are legitimate and right. The world provides pleasures which entice the lust of the sin nature. When your eyes and senses look to the enticements of the world (regardless of what they might be) then you have given yourself over to the harlot.

And so Ezekiel describes the spiritually negative person as an adulterous and a harlot. You cheat on your right spiritual partner, the one and only one who can make your life whole, and you sell all of your fortune (spiritual fortune) for the simple and short lived pleasures of this world.

Turning away from God, you then turn into a spiritual slut.

Your pursuit of happiness (regardless of how you define happiness) will never be accomplished.

Do this long enough in your life, and Gods warnings will come down on you like a ton of bricks. And, when that happens it will not be a pretty sight for you.

The Bible is not a compilation of empty words. It is not meant for entertainment, or idle reading to cure ones guilt from time to time.

The Bible not an instant cure either. When a person has lived their life and then comes up against trouble which overwhelms their life, then running back to the Bible for a quick prayer and an instant end to the problem is not going to happen. At best, you will have to endure the trouble, but God will turn things around for you - in due time. That is, if your repentance is a legitimate one. Too often people just want God up on the shelf for a quick fix from time to time and then they will turn right back to their negative ways.

God might bail you out even several times during your life, but one you have established a pattern for how you will live your life, and if your repentance's are empty ones, then there will come a time when your instant cure (from God) will not be there. The end - of your life that is.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
