Eze. 5:7-9

7 Therefore thus saith [amar] the Lord [Adonay] GOD [Yahovih]; Because ye multiplied [hamown] more than the nations [gowy] that are round about [cabiyb] you, and have not walked [halak] in my statutes [chuqqah], neither have kept [asah] my judgments [mishpat], neither have done [asah] according to the judgments [mishpat] of the nations [gowy] that are round about [cabiyb] you;
8 Therefore thus saith [amar] the Lord [Adonay] GOD [Yahovih]; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute [asah] judgments [mishpat] in the midst [tavek] of thee in the sight [ayin] of the nations [gowy].
9 And I will do [asah] in thee that which I have not done [asah], and whereunto I will not do [asah] any more the like, because [ya`an] of all thine abominations [tow`ebah]. KJV-Interlinear

7 'Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, 'Because you have more turmoil than the nations which surround you, and have not walked in My statutes, nor observed My ordinances, nor observed the ordinances of the nations which surround you,' 8 therefore, thus says the Lord GOD,' Behold, I, even I, am against you, and I will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations. 9 'And because of all your abominations, I will do among you what I have not done, and the like of which I will never do again. NASB

'More turmoil' refers to the compounding of a negative attitude and therefore causing greater trouble in the life of the Israelites. Their attitude was more negative toward God, than the neighboring countries who worshiped idols. The gentile nations were more loyal to their false gods than Israel was to the one true God. So it is with believers throughout history, who are negative. They are disloyal to God who provides everything they have in life. Unbelievers at least are loyal to their beliefs even though their beliefs are false and will cost them dearly.

The Israelites ignored Gods laws. They ignored Gods principles of doctrine. They ignored Gods rules of the spiritual life. They ignored Gods laws of establishment. They even ignored the social codes that rule the morals of their neighbors.

Israel's rebellion against God was so conspicuous and outlandish that their punishment was going to be equally dramatic and visible to all.

Lam. 4:6
6 For the iniquity of the daughter of my people Is greater than the sin of Sodom, Which was overthrown as in a moment, And no hands were turned toward her. NASB

Amos 3:2
2 'You only have I chosen among all the families of the earth; Therefore, I will punish you for all your iniquities.' NASB

The punishment of the generation living at Ezekiel's time was going to see these words come true in their own lifetime.

God was going to hammer all of the believing as well as the unbelieving Israelites in just a few years time. But also, God has a policy against all members of the Jewish race (those who are descended from Jacob), as well as a policy against all believers regardless of their culture, color, or race.

Throughout history believers have the advantage of Gods presence in their lives.

Jerusalem (peace) was the recipient of His word, the dwelling place of His glory, and the object of His love. And yet the splendor of Gods favor only magnified the blackness of her deeds. Instead of honoring God, Jerusalem rebelled.

This is the same for every believer throughout history. We are all the recipient of His word and favors. To ignore Him, by means of ignoring our spiritual lives, is one of the greatest of insults in defiance directed toward God that anyone could possibly have.

So, God has set out a plan, defined a map, plotted a course through history. We call this plan the divine decrees. There is only one plan for history and upon completion of human history, then that plan will never be revisited again.

We have but one life to live. None of us can come back and live our life over again in order to make up for our flaws in a previous life.

Gods plan calls for grace and mercy where appropriate. His plan calls for information and patience, warning and discipline, and when all else fails and people reject Him with great defiance, then judgment.

There is only one life, one history for each one of us. We have this life to get our spiritual act together lest we forfeit a kings ransom in blessings for life now and for all of eternity.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
