Eze. 3:22-23

22 And the hand [yad] of the LORD [Yahovah] was there upon me; and he said [amar] unto me, Arise [quwm], go forth [yatsa] into the plain [biq`ah], and I will there talk [dabar] with thee.
23 Then I arose [quwm], and went forth [yatsa] into the plain [biq`ah]: and, behold, the glory [kabowd] of the LORD [Yahovah] stood [amad] there, as the glory [kabowd] which I saw [ra'ah] by the river [nahar] of Chebar [Kabar]: and I fell [naphal] on my face [paniym]. KJV-Interlinear

22 And the hand of the LORD was on me there, and He said to me, 'Get up, go out to the plain, and there I will speak to you.' 23 So I got up and went out to the plain; and behold, the glory of the LORD was standing there, like the glory which I saw by the river Chebar, and I fell on my face. NASB

Ezekiel has been given instructions concerning his conduct in carrying out his responsibilities in the teaching of the Word of God. Next God will command him to represent symbolically the impending siege of Jerusalem together with all of its miseries. That, will come up in chapter 4. And then in chapter 5, God will reveal the destiny of the inhabitants after the capture of the city. Not going to be a pleasant picture. Remember the scroll of lamentations, mourning, and woe.

Note that Ezekiel is in complete obedience to Gods commands. Likewise Ezekiel conducts himself in complete humility and respect of God.

In contrast, the people to whom Ezekiel is taking Gods message, are indifferent toward Gods message and therefore indifferent to God.

Ezekiel sat among the people on their 'mound' of new hope, as we described it earlier, but the response was virtual silence. They had seven days to consider his message. That consideration was silence - or a no response attitude. Nevertheless, God gave the time of grace for all to consider their spiritual position.

Now God commands Ezekiel to get up and go to the plain. A plain in this case is a valley. It is a wide flat valley between two mountains. Mountains in the Bible, among other things, represent opinions. Mt. Zion represents Gods vast wisdom in doctrine. Any other mountain represents mans opinions, opinions which are in contrast to those of God. In between, is the valley of decision.

Ezekiel is in the plain, and wide and level valley, a valley of decision, standing between two opinions - Gods and mans.

There God again reveals His glory to Ezekiel. There is no other glory present in the plain. Gods glory is the only legitimate glory in existence in the universe.

Without hesitation, Ezekiel falls again on his face in humble response to God. Ezekiel had made his decision.

What did the people do when Ezekiel was present and among them? They did nothing but offer silence. They were disturbed, yes, but they did not fall on their faces. They did not cry out for mercy. They did not repent and begin a fervent Bible study. The people did nothing but fret among themselves and remain silent.

What was on Ezekiel's soul was the 'hand of God,' Gods word. The thunderous roar of heaven's rumblings, of Gods wisdom which is stable, secure, and eternal.

In contrast, the people who have their own opinions whose roar they hear only in their own imaginations, are in reality but silence and indecision between the two contrasting opinions.

God reveals Himself to Ezekiel, one who is positive toward Him, not to an indifferent people.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
