Eze. 3:4-6

4 And he said [amar] unto me, Son [ben] of man [adam], go [yalak], get [bow] thee unto the house [bayith] of Israel [Yisra'el], and speak [dabar] with my words [dabar] unto them.
5 For thou art not sent [shalach] to a people [am] of a strange [ameq] speech [saphah] and of an hard [kabed] language [lashown], but to the house [bayith] of Israel [Yisra'el];
6 Not to many [rab] people [am] of a strange [ameq] speech [saphah] and of an hard [kabed] language [lashown], whose words [dabar] thou canst not understand [shama]. Surely, had I sent [shalach] thee to them, they would have hearkened [shama] unto thee. KJV-Interlinear

4 Then He said to me, 'Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. 5 'For you are not being sent to a people of unintelligible speech or difficult language, but to the house of Israel, 6 nor to many peoples of unintelligible speech or difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. But I have sent you to them who should listen to you; NASB

Ezekiel is being sent to the house of Israel, Gods chosen people. Who are Gods chosen people? Believers in the promised savior.

These are not only the people of Ezekiel's country, Israelites or people from Judah, but also people who have survived as a remnant from the Northern Kingdom, which is also called Samaria or Israel.

Ezekiel is not going to have to speak to people who cannot understand him. He isn't speaking to foreigners who speak another language. He is not going to have to speak with words that are unfathomable or difficult to comprehend.

The language which he will speak will be clear and understandable to his hearers. Likewise the terminology he will use will already be a part of their vocabulary.

The people of Israel know of God. They know of the terminology common to Bible teaching. They know of the feast celebrations and sacrifices. They know of the Lord and of His covenants and promises to the House of Israel. They know of their history, their legacy, their reputation which is common knowledge to all the nations who often make reference to the 'God of Israel.' They know of the House of David and all of the promises related to that dynasty.

The people to whom Ezekiel is going to speak know of all of these things contemporary to them, just as you are familiar with the content of the Bible of our current day including the story of Adam and Eve, and Noah and the flood, and Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and Moses, and David, and the promised savior, the Cross and Jesus Christ, and the Second Advent, and the Book of Revelation, the Rapture and so on and so forth. Not to mention doctrines and principles of fellowship, the spiritual life, principles of love, etc., etc., etc..

And these are terms with which you are thoroughly familiar. When anyone talks of the spiritual life, you should have a frame of reference and some comprehension of what is being discussed.

So too, the Israelites who were now captives in Babylon knew of their history and legacy.

Yet, God further suggests to Ezekiel that those who have had all of the advantages of doctrine, those who have had all of the history, all of the prophets, all of the writings given to them by God, they are now an ungrateful and indifferent people.

The Lord even suggested that the people of Sodom, Matt 11:21-24, if they had been alive during the First Advent, would have been more curious about Him and doctrine, than were the Jewish peoples of His day.

Such was their hardness of heart.

And, even in the face of their total humiliation, being captives of a foreign power, being placed under difficulties in life, losing their freedoms and rights, and otherwise losing their many options that they once had in life to pursue a better life, simply because they were a negative people, they were still defiant to the only one (God) who could pull them up onto their feet, as He did Ezekiel, and deliver them from all of their difficulties.

Amazingly those who knew nothing of the one true God of the universe would have been more responsive than those (Israelites) who claimed His name.

All too often people who have all of the advantages of freedom and prosperity, will ignore the source of those advantages to the point of their own detriment. And, people who live under hardship around the world will be more inclined to embrace the truth to their advantage.

Doctrine is always readily available to those who, you would think, would listen. Unfortunately, they often become the ones who can't seem to find the time for a daily Bible study.

And thus the scroll of lamentations, mourning, and woe will collapse all around their lives. Then who will be crying for time with God? Who, before they had their difficulties, they had no time for.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
