Eze. 1:27-28 27 And I saw [ra'ah] as the colour [ayin] of amber [chashmal], as the appearance [mar'eh] of fire [esh] round about [cabiyb] within [bayith] it, from the appearance [mar'eh] of his loins [mothen] even upward [ma`al], and from the appearance [mar'eh] of his loins [mothen] even downward [mattah], I saw [ra'ah] as it were the appearance [mar'eh] of fire [esh], and it had brightness [nogahh] round about [cabiyb]. 28 As the appearance [mar'eh] of the bow [qesheth] that is in the cloud [anan] in the day [yowm] of rain [geshem], so was the appearance [mar'eh] of the brightness [nogahh] round about [cabiyb]. This was the appearance [mar'eh] of the likeness [damuwth] of the glory [kabowd] of the LORD [Yahovah]. And when I saw [ra'ah] it, I fell [naphal] upon my face [paniym], and I heard [shama] a voice [qowl] of one that spake [dabar]. KJV-Interlinear 27 Then I noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something like glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him. 28 As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking. NASB
Ezekiel could describe the angels in detail, but when it came to the Son of God, he could only describe an image that looked like glowing molten metal. Something extremely hot containing extreme energy and power.
God is a consuming fire. He can give life and tremendous grace, but He can also bring tremendous judgment against anything and everything in the universe. There is nothing under the expanse of heaven that can escape His view, His analysis, His evaluation, His judgment.
And yet surrounding Christ is a rainbow bearing all of the colors signifying that God makes promises and God keeps them.
Gen. 9:16-17
16 When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.' 17 And God said to Noah, 'This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.' NASB
In that, we have hope and confidence in His plan for the human race, and more important, we have hope and confidence in His plan for each one of us for our daily life here on this planet, and in heaven when we leave this earth.
This chapter opens with an advancing storm cloud, then he reveals the contents of that cloud and who drives its judgment. Both in righteous wrath and divine fury God advances against evil in all of its forms and destroys evil thoroughly and completely.
Jesus Christ controls history. Nothing happens in history that does not have Gods direct or indirect control, or His permission to occur. Nothing in history happens by accident.
No one comes into this world unexpectedly as far as God is concerned. No one dies and leaves this world unexpectedly. God has defined everyone's life, from the number of hairs on their head (or lack of them) to the number of total heartbeats they will have during their life.
If you lose someone close to you, do not reject God, do not insult His sovereignty in their life or in their death, but instead honor them. For it was Gods sovereign will that they had what they had both in life and in death.
If God wants to keep you here, then nothing in this universe can take you out of this world. If God wants to remove you from this world, then nothing in this universe can keep you here. Jesus Christ controls history in every respect.
When the twin towers in New York came crashing down, many died. And still there were those inside the building who survived even though they shouldn't have.
When the tsunami rolled over the beaches in Indonesia, many tens of thousands died. And still there were many people right next to those who died, that survived.
When the hurricane rolled over Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, over two million people were displaced. I believe (last I heard) that the death toll is now just a little over six hundred. It was feared to be far higher, but it was not.
When the allies invaded Europe in 1944, many died, but far more tens of thousands lived even in the face of a furious fire being shot at them by the Germans. Most should have died, but they did not.
2 Kings 6:15-17
15 Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, 'Alas, my master! What shall we do?' 16 So he answered, 'Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.' 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, 'O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.' And the LORD opened the servant's eyes , and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. NASB
When the world is set against you, either from terrorists, politics, social or family confrontations and so forth, God surrounds those whom He loves (mature believers) with a wall of fire (fellowship) as He did for the Exodus generation, and with a massive army of angels in their full battle gear and their massive fire power. And God does all of the necessary battle on behalf of the positive believer.
In Him there is safety, security, and from that comes prosperity and happiness.
We do not temp God by doing stupid things. We certainly have to be responsible, but the world can quickly overwhelm us all in the blink of an eye, and God is always there to keep us safe. And He has the means, the power, and the resources to accomplish all that He wills.
Psa. 4:8
8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For Thou alone, O LORD, dost make me to dwell in safety. NASB
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
