Exodus 15:17-21

Lesson # Exodus 15:17-21
Study Material - Exodus 15:17-21

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 15:17-21

17 'Thou wilt bring them and plant them in the mountain of Thine inheritance, The place, O LORD, which Thou hast made for Thy dwelling, The sanctuary, O Lord, which Thy hands have established. 18 'The LORD shall reign forever and ever.' 19 For the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters of the sea on them; but the sons of Israel walked on dry land through the midst of the sea. 20 And Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took the timbrel in her hand, and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dancing. 21 And Miriam answered them, 'Sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted; The horse and his rider He has hurled into the sea.'

Moses finishes up the song, sung by the males of the Israelites with reference to the final home of place of refuge which is available to all believers in Christ, the Son of God, the Savior (promised in Moses day, and to whom we look back in history from our current perspective.

This song will be repeated by Miriam and the women of the nation. First the masculine part, the position of power, the position of authority, the position of which God directs all of these events, and then the appreciation displayed by Miriam. That is mankind's response (the feminine aspect) in appreciation to what God has done for us.

The ultimate result of these events, which portray Christ and His work on the Cross, is Gods work in bringing each believer to His mountain and planting each one of us therein. So what does that mean? Perhaps God is going to take all of us to Sinai and bury us there? No, of course not. This does not refer to our being taken or forced to move to the Middle East, either.

Does it means the Holy Land as it is often called? Although the Middle East is neither holy, or promised to us in any aspect. It is just another piece of geography. The real target of Gods Word is your soul. Your sanctuary is the state of fellowship where you should be living your life, and especially when you have attained spiritual maturity, then the maximum benefit of Gods blessings are poured out on you.

God is not going to lead us, nor the Israelites to Sinai, nor Pikes Peak for that matter. The mountain is Bible doctrine. Often referred to as Mount Zion, which resides in Jerusalem. Jerusalem means the city of peace, representing the peace of God which is attained when one reaches spiritual maturity. Zion is the mountain of doctrinal foundation on which that peace is based.

That is our true home, spiritual maturity. Planet earth is not our home, but only a temporary stop over in this life. Eternity is where we will live out 99.9999 etc., % of our life. Our life here on earth is but a blink in time when you consider eternity. Maturity is that place of resident Bible doctrine in our soul, of maximum possession of that wisdom, and the application of it in life. It is our place of safety, of refuge, of maximum defense from all manner of evil. It is our place of maximum blessing, prosperity, happiness, peace or contentment or poise, if you will. This home is spiritual maturity while residing in fellowship, and continuing in that state for all of ones life.

God leads us there. He provides the doctrine. Man does not invent scripture. 'All scripture is God breathed', exhaled to us that we might inhale it in our Bible study and benefit from all it has to offer us. Man uses his volition to become positive toward God. Man desires to know and learn of God. Man studies the Bible and learns the rules of study, ie by being in fellowship while studying, to be in fellowship while living ones life, to be in fellowship while applying the principles of Bible doctrine to ones life.

While in fellowship man hears Gods word, or reads it. That doctrine is diverted, once it enters the ears or eyes, into the human spirit. There the Holy Spirit makes this information real to us. We believe it and it is filtered down into the soul, the memory centers, the norms and standards of ones morals, the categorical structuring of ones mind and so forth, and this doctrine begins to build up a 'temple' a 'sanctuary' a structure in your soul. This in turn is available for you to recall from your memory so as to discern truth in life, to apply its wisdom to your life, and as such it cycles through out your soul increasing the strength of your soul, like a heart pumping blood throughout your body. Only you are pumping doctrine throughout your soul in this case. This all occurs while you are in fellowship. This is when the Holy Spirit has control over your soul. When you are out of fellowship, then your sin nature has control over your soul and the spiritual mechanism is short circuited and does not function until you get yourself back into fellowship. There are a couple of picture charts describing this function, on the Index Page. See the link above.

God takes you there - He presents you the doctrine. God plants you there - in spiritual growth as the Holy Spirit funnels the doctrine into your soul and makes it understandable and real to you. Unbelievers as well as believers out of fellowship look to this as foolishness. They do not understand because they either do not have the mechanism there to comprehend it (for unbelievers, no salvation, therefore no human spirit received at spiritual rebirth - that is faith in Christ has not been expressed), and for believers out of fellowship then, the mechanism is simply not functioning due to their being out of fellowship. For both, no ears to hear, no eyes to see. No ability to comprehend or understand, therefore it is all foolishness.

Note too, that this fellowship is not an emotional event. There is no feeling, no sensation, no gargling of sounds from the throat, none of that Hollywood stuff, or phony holy roller tent meeting stuff. The spiritual life is separate and apart from the five senses you have. It is not of this world, but from heaven, from God alone.

Gods hands established our sanctuary, not us. God does all of the work. God gets all of the credit. Man receives the blessings from the work that God has performed. Some of mankind receives the destruction from their rejection of God. The waters rushed back to their place. They did not merely fall back in their normal sense, but were driven via a miracle performed by God. The were driven back on top of the Egyptians, so that there could be no escape. No one can escape judgment which has been issued against them. Or better stated, you can avoid your own destruction by changing your attitude toward God, but if you refuse, then at some point time will run out and the waters will fall on you in a deluge. You won't have time to think, as the disaster hits you with tremendous speed.

Miriam and the females take up the song following the male portion of the song. Masculine - God does the work. He is the authority. Feminine - we respond to that blessing and gift. We are the subordinate recipient, and obedient to His will.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
