Exodus 15:1-5

Lesson # Exodus 15:1-5
Study Material - Exodus 15:1-5

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 15:1-5

1 Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and said, 'I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted; The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea. 2 'The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will extol Him. 3 'The LORD is a warrior; The LORD is His name. 4 'Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; And the choicest of his officers are drowned in the Red Sea. 5 'The deeps cover them; They went down into the depths like a stone.

We will continue in Exodus through this chapter and the celebration of Israel, then we will move on to another book in our Bible study rotation. We have spent quite a bit of time here, but this completes the first phase of the trials of Israel through their deliverance.

Before, Israel was told to stand fast, regain their composure, and then watch as God delivers them. Now they have seen Gods work and it is 'party time.' The celebration begins with thanks and giving credit to where credit is due. God did all of the work and God alone deserves the credit for the victory.

The song is a brief summary of the recent history. In all things, both good and bad, we are to be thankful to God for all that He does for us. Obviously when the good things occur it is much easier to be appreciative and celebration comes easily. Right after this song of celebration, when the Israelites move out, they will be faced with a no water test. They will grumble and fail that test, seemingly forgetting the tremendous power that God has already demonstrated in the parting of the sea, not to mention the ten plagues.

Prayer should be a normal and daily ritual for every believer in Christ. From the rising in the morning to the thanks offered at each meal, to the retiring at night, around the clock we need to be thankful regardless of our situation. With God in our sights, things will only get better. And they will get better at His convenience not ours.

To reject God is to ride into the sea of this jungle in life. It will swallow you up. Pharaoh's chariot corps and any others who road after the Israelites, were swept away. Imagine what Pharaoh had to say when he returned to the capital without his fighting finest. The power of man cannot match the power of God.

In Him is our strength. Through Bible doctrine in our Bible study we receive that strength. Not by academics, not by working out, but by His Word comes the only thing in life that will continue forever into eternity. Certainly we need a normal education to read and write etc., but if God is excluded then our life will be no better off than those Egyptians at the bottom of the sea.

God is the source of our salvation. There is no other source. God is our strength. There is no other source of true strength and courage. God is the only God. There is no other God. He is mighty in battle. None can stand against Him. If God is on our side, then no one can defeat us.

The Lord is His name. 'Jehovah', the eternally existing one, the alone existing one, the sole and self sufficient one, the one with unlimited resources.

The power of this world cannot even defeat the resources of this world, nor can they control them. The sea can wash away the mightiest of armies. They dropped to the bottom like lead weights, and those who were able to remove their armor or battle dress, were still drowned and washed up on the shore as proof of their demise and permanent defeat. The wicked dead cannot rise to fight again. Death eventually catches us all. Only God has the power to defeat death and cancel its hold on us, through Jesus Christ and the Cross.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
