Ex. 14:26-31
26 Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen.' 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak, while the Egyptians were fleeing right into it; then the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 And the waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even Pharaoh's entire army that had gone into the sea after them; not even one of them remained. 29 But the sons of Israel walked on dry land through the midst of the sea, and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 And when Israel saw the great power which the LORD had used against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in His servant Moses.
The wicked triumph at the agony they inflict on others. They cheer and dance at the destruction, injury and death they cause on their victims. They drool at the anticipated plunder they seek at the expense of their victims. They are anxious to chase after the slaughter. We have seen all of this in the Egyptian army.
Note that there are a lot of parallels between these Egyptians and those terrorists and their supporters, as they danced in the streets when we here in America were attacked. They photograph themselves praising Allah. Hummm, I thought that photographs were taboo in Islam. Must have been done on a Friday. You know that some things are permitted on Friday's, like dress down day, fish day, hummm must be some other things that are permitted on Friday???
Anyway, so the Egyptians chased in after the Israelites. Remember that the Israelites are on the lighted side of the cloud, and the Egyptians were on the dark side of it. There was confusion, steering problems, wheels coming off, then Moses is commanded to raise his hand over the water a second time. All the Israelites are on the other side of the sea, and the cloud lifts from their rear area.
What do the Egyptians now see? Giant walls of water, and they suddenly realize they are in a trap. They reversed their tracks and began to flee in their sudden panic. Their slobbering over their presumed victory now changes to fear and consternation over their own destruction. How did those terrorists feel as they suddenly had a worthy opponent? They ran. They hid in caves. They changed sides. Time out. Kings X. I'm changing sides now! And they died by the hundreds if not in larger numbers.
God allows the wicked to have their short lived victories. God uses the wicked to shape history, to punish the righteous, to test the righteous, all in accordance with Gods plan, and under the His complete control. Then suddenly destruction overtakes the wicked and they are no more. Where is that Usama dude? No one has heard from him in a while. Is he with Allah now? Is he rehearsing his great come back, or his rising from the ashes of some cave to rally even more those who would follow him? He is certainly a good pattern for what the anti-christ will look like in the future - pleasant looking on the outside, but maggot infested to the core of his soul.
The wicked have their short lived celebrations. This is the only type of happiness they will have in life. Happiness at the destruction of innocents. They celebrate over the difficulties others have, especially when they are the cause of them. But short lived is the key phrase. Their happiness is false and has a definite termination point.
They suddenly discovered their predicament, were suddenly overtaken by fear as they saw the trap. Walls of water towering over them. A force far greater than they, and a force that they could not defeat. They all died. Pharaoh's army pursued the Israelites into the sea, and there they died, washing up on the shores so the Israelites could see first hand the exact outcome that God brings on evil. So all could see the overwhelming power of God. Yet God used but water to apply the judgment. He could have simply melted them away. I'm melting!! Who was it that said that?
Anyway, He did not. The wicked take advantage of the resources supplied by this world, and use them to take advantage of others. Therefore the world is used to inflict the proper punishment. The results are evident to all. If the Egyptians had simply disappeared into the sea, then there would be those who would suggest that they did not die after all, but bodies do not leave anything to the imagination. Actual bodies convince all those who see them and help reinforce the might of Gods power. The absence of bodies, helps reinforce the negative attitudes of the followers of the wicked. They are led deeper into a trap of a different type perhaps for a later date of their destruction. Will this Usama dude be found? Who knows. But whether or not he is found, his followers, the hard core wicked, will worship him either way. Even in the face of virtually no world support, in the face of overwhelming American power against them, they will storm off into their own agenda of violence just as the Egyptians pursued the Israelites, totally ignoring the last ten plagues and the present confusing darkness. Some negative, hard core types will never change and their death is the only solution to getting rid of them.
Now it is time for the Israelites to sing and dance, but not at the anticipation of gaining wealth from the Egyptians, but at their securing freedom from the wicked who intended them nothing but harm.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
