Exodus 8:1-7

Lesson # Exodus 8:1-7
Study Material - Exodus 8:1-7

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 8:1-7

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'Thus says the LORD,' Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 2 But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite your whole territory with frogs. 3 And the Nile will swarm with frogs, which will come up and go into your house and into your bedroom and on your bed, and into the houses of your servants and on your people, and into your ovens and into your kneading bowls. 4 So the frogs will come up on you and your people and all your servants.'' ' 5 Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, 'Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the streams and over the pools, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.' 6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. 7 And the magicians did the same with their secret arts, making frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

Here is a short plague, perhaps just a few days in duration. Aaron stretched out his stick and the frogs appeared throughout the nation immediately. Pharaoh set the date for their removal, 'tomorrow' and they died out immediately. By the way that part is in tomorrow's lesson.

But as for this next plague - frogs. Why did God choose frogs? They are little nuisance critters, not as impressive as lions or tigers. But Pharaoh would have been impressed with something huge like an invading army. Something that he could rally his army and fight. But here we have frogs. How 'dishonorable' to be defeated by frogs. Then again, negative people, or those people who are not impressed by Gods works, are usually impressed by something with great magnitude like a overwhelming army or an erupting volcano. Their arrogance reaches out and places great things they see and sense and so forth, as greater than that which they cannot see.

Of course arrogant people also place the great works and the minuscule things worked by man as equals, or just freak occurrences of nature. God again brings frogs nationwide, but not just out where the water was. These frogs got inside the homes, beds, cupboards, everywhere they could become annoying to people.

Ever been out in nature on a camping trip? You get all snuggled in at night when it is very quiet and serene. The stars overhead. It is perfect until ..... The frogs begin to sing their song. The noise keeps you awake all night long. So much for that perfect camping trip.

Now these frogs will not only be noisy, but they will be everywhere. How can you sleep when frogs keep jumping in and out of your bed? Imagine all the arguing and shouting by folks at night. 'Eeeek! Something touched me!' Who could sleep?

So not by impressive means, but by insignificant frogs, God brings Pharaoh to his embarrassment. Arrogant people are easily embarrassed, and they get angry when they are embarrassed. They are so self centered.

God follows the same pattern - request first, refusal received, request again with warning, refusal received again, then judgment. God does not impose anything bad on us until we have first demonstrated our persistence to remain negative. If we do not change, then he sharpens his sword for the next increment of judgment, Psa. 7:12.

The snake miracle did not harm anyone except for the snakes of the magicians. The blood miracle brought inconvenience to all. Now the frogs will keep everyone awake and you know what happens when no one gets their sleep? Cranky!!! The frogs are a nuisance to say the least. These are all minor warnings thus far.

The magicians went to their bag of tricks and produced some frogs. But not on the national scale as God produced. Of course they could not reverse the plague. And Pharaoh will be annoyed with all of this activity concerning the Hebrews.

Negative people bring on lots of negative activities in their own lives. Someone once asked why the Bible has so much negative stuff in it. And well, the Bible has lots of information to keep you alert to what you need to avoid in your life. Positive people look to the positive aspects of Gods Word - the blessings and protections, etc. In order to learn we need to know the facts, and there are a lot of negative aspects to life in this world. Only when we persist in our negative attitude in life do we get hammered sooner or later. God warns us repeatedly so that we can avoid the punishments of life, and enjoy the good things which He provides. Unfortunately too many people act like Pharaoh and persist in their defiant or apathetic attitude against Gods Word. And sooner or later they get the edge of His sword.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
