Exodus 6:5-9

Lesson # Exodus 6:5-9
Study Material - Exodus 6:5-9

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 6:5-9

5 And furthermore I have heard the groaning of the sons of Israel, because the Egyptians are holding them in bondage; and I have remembered My covenant. 6 Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7 'Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 'And I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the LORD.' 9 So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their despondency and cruel bondage.

Strong passions oppose strong consolations. By indulging in discontent and fretfulness, then we deprive ourselves of the comfort, the comfort that God alone can provide.

The Hebrews listened to Moses and did not believe him. They were preoccupied with their troubles. Despite the promise that God again delivered to them.

God would bring them out from under their burdens. God would deliver them out of their bondage in Egypt. God would redeem them from their state of slavery giving them freedom. God would then take them to the promised land. God would give them that same promised land. God would claim them for His own. God would be their God - the all powerful, the infinite provider.

'I am the Lord', that is to say, 'I am all that you need.'

This was clear to them then just as, I hope, it is clear to all who read these words now.

God gives us a little bit of doctrine each day, Isa 28:12. But just as He gave them a little here and a little there, as baby's nursing a little now and a little more later in short intervals of feeding, so they did not have an overdose of doctrine that would have been too much for them.

Some ask why we cover so little each day. The reason being is that if you try to read chapter after chapter everyday, you'll miss probably 90% of the content of what is being taught. Therefore, your learning process is short circuited, and you would be defeating the whole purpose of Bible study. What good does it do to read the entire Bible and learn nothing, or very little. Therefore, we learn line by line, precept by precept, a little here a little there. We chip at the mountain and pretty soon we own it all. If you had been involved in a detailed Bible study for the last 20 years, say, then just imagine how different your life would have been. And your life would have been very different. How do we know it would have been different? God promises were just given.

Out from under burdens (the weight of this world), delivered from bondage (slavery to sin), redeemed (salvation, reconciled to God), taken to promised land (spiritual growth), given promised land (spiritual maturity), claimed as Gods (we are Royal Family, Royal Ambassadors, Royal Priests, Adult sons, heirs to the universe jointly with Christ, etc. - see the blessings list on the Index page). 'I Am the Lord', God is all that we need, because He is all powerful and the sole provider of all things, and capable of doing everything He wills, and He wills the very best for each one of us.

Our responsibility in life is to concentrate on God, not on our problems. Sure it is easy to say, but then remember that we can do nothing to earn or deserve anything from God. Remember that He brings out, He delivers, He redeems, He gives, etc. God does all the work in the spiritual life. You and I have only to commit ourselves to a daily study, and keep the things we learn in the forefront of our minds.

The Hebrews are doing just what each one of us do. They worried about the obvious things of life. Having a job, having income, paying the bills, having a little extra for the nice things in life, and just when you think you are getting ahead, something breaks down, then the repair bills pursue you. There are always worries around the corner. Worrying won't make them go away. Ignoring your responsibilities in life won't make things any better either. So don't go thinking that God will take care of you and spend yourself into bankruptcy. That is just another kind of escape from problems that never works. If you want to be irresponsible then God will let you dig your pit all yourself in that manner too.

No. Do not be stupid nor ignorant, but be smart (Bible doctrine in the soul), be responsible (obedience to Gods Word), we sensible (application of Gods Word), be consistent (daily Bible study), be a winner (achievement of spiritual maturity).

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
