Exodus 6:1-4

Lesson # Exodus 6:1-4
Study Material - Exodus 6:1-4

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 6:1-4

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for under compulsion he shall let them go, and under compulsion he shall drive them out of his land.' 2 God spoke further to Moses and said to him, 'I am the LORD; 3 and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name, LORD, I did not make Myself known to them. 4 And I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they sojourned.

A lesson, or better, a review of history is given to Moses. A reminder of just exactly who the players are in this conflict. Pharaoh is merely a man. Flesh and bone. A soul created by God. A man placed in his current position of power by God, and who will be removed from power when it is convenient to God in Gods overall plan for mankind in general and for the Hebrews in particular.

God will do to Pharaoh, not the reverse. Now Moses will 'see' what God will do. Not what God will attempt to do, but a certainty of statement is given here. God will take action. God promises action and it will be accomplished against Pharaoh. The results are already determined. God knows the outcome of this conflict. God knows exactly what everyone involved will think and do.

In Moses mind, he had tried to convince Pharaoh. Moses delivered the message. Moses even delivered his own enhanced message and the results were disastrous. Man cannot get himself out of any situation, and God will demonstrate that it is He alone who will accomplish that which Moses could not accomplish. It is God alone who will accomplish that which any of us try to accomplish. No matter what we do in life, if God is not in it we will never succeed. And God is in all that we do in one way or another. We may not see it. We may decide to reject His role in our life, presuming that we are in control of our own destiny, and that is a fools attitude. We do not control the beating of our own hearts, so neither do we control anything else in our lives.

Gods additional reminder. In the beginning God was known as the infinite one. Only after creation and restoration, Gen. 2:4, was he known as Jehovah, then man was created, and a personal relationship was required. Following the flood, the peoples descended down from that mountain that Noah landed on and spread to the four corners as distributed to each son of Noah. Now they resided in the lands given to Ham, Psa. 78, Psa. 105, Psa. 106.

Throughout the book of Genesis, God revealed himself as the All Powerful, All Mighty, 'El Shaddai'. Then was the need for power in their faith. The ancestors of Moses were generally free in their lives with little pressure as contrasted with the Hebrews in Egypt.

The Hebrews were now under extreme pressure and so God now reveals Himself as the all sufficient one, the eternally existing one. I AM that I AM. The one with whom and through whom there is endless resource.

The Hebrews are in a demoralized state in their depth of misery. Pharaoh is at the height of his pride. The Hebrews suffer at Pharaoh's lack of concern for them. He is only concerned for himself as he abuses the office in which God (whom he does not know, nor recognize, nor care about) placed him.

The Hebrews left the land in which they were to become heir, and remained in Egypt. They forgot their heritage, their God, their destiny. God did not forget, and that is the key to this lesson. God is faithful. He remembers all His promises and those promises are many.

We, mankind, tend to forget where we came from and when seeking to recall our past we come up with some of the most ridiculous theories. We chase off after shadows, not realizing that it is only shadows that we are chasing. Whether it be our education, our career, our asset accumulation, our family, our entertainment, our social life, whatever it is that you are chasing in life. The pursuit of happiness is generally woven up in all our efforts. Of course many of these things are good things, when God is part of the picture. But when God is not part of the picture, then they are futile efforts. Regardless of whatever we accomplish in life. In the end of life, these things will contribute zero to our eternal state.

When God is in the picture, when God is part of our daily study and growth, then all of these things bring even more meaning and purpose, appreciation and senses of accomplishment in our individual lives. Why? Because the spiritual life builds capacity in our souls for handling these blessings.

Another capacity in our soul is constructed from our Bible study for bearing the pressures of life. This is something that people tend to forget. There is the dark side of this world and as long as we are in it (the world that is) then we are exposed to its pressures. The Hebrews are under the thumb of Pharaoh. You have your pressures of life. It doesn't matter what those pressures are because we have in our spiritual lives the, I Am, the God of unlimited resources, as well as a personal relationship with Him.

That being the case, we need to place our worry in check and get on with our lives. God will bring the right results into our lives. The Hebrews will need to learn to watch as God works His miracles, then in the end they will need to rely on their faith as God finalizes the last judgment against Egypt. So it is with us. We can see the results of this Afghanistan series of events as they unfold and God sets His hand against those who are guilty. And so it is in our individual lives. We need to watch our lives and wait as God puts things together for each one of us. God helps those who belong to Him. He helps those who are positive toward Him.

If the world slips away from God, then these terrorists will have their little victories here and there. The liberal minded press and politicians will have their way. Negative peoples wherever they exist will have their way to the extent that the jungle (life apart from God) allows them.

But when positive believers come into play, then Gods plan for them will override all plans that the world might have for themselves. God is all powerful and He has unlimited resources with which to work His will.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
