Exodus 3:16-22

Lesson # Exodus 3:16-22
Study Material - Exodus 3:16-22

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 3:16-22

6 Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me, saying,' I am indeed concerned about you and what has been done to you in Egypt. 17 So I said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.'' 18 'And they will pay heed to what you say; and you with the elders of Israel will come to the king of Egypt, and you will say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So now, please, let us go a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.' 19 'But I know that the king of Egypt will not permit you to go, except under compulsion. 20 So I will stretch out My hand, and strike Egypt with all My miracles which I shall do in the midst of it; and after that he will let you go. 21 And I will grant this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be that when you go, you will not go empty-handed. 22 But every woman shall ask of her neighbor and the woman who lives in her house, articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing; and you will put them on your sons and daughters. Thus you will plunder the Egyptians.'

Moses now has a mission. Go to the elders and tell them what God has just said. With them, go to Pharaoh and request, politely, permission to go on a three day journey out into the desert to give sacrifices to God (implying that they will immediately return). Pharaoh will deny them permission for this simple request. The stakes will now be raised. Let the people go, period. Pharaoh will continue to deny permission. God will smite Egypt with increasingly greater plagues until the ultimate judgment taking their first born child from every household. Then they will be released.

God the Father will give His only Son, Jesus Christ, for the freedom of all of humanity throughout history. Here He will take the first born of all of Egypt. Egypt will receive instruction concerning the gospel, because they are a negative lot. Few will wake up. Most will just want to get rid of the Hebrews and their God.

He authority is God. He is the one sending Moses. Though Moses was rejected 40 years earlier, now God states that they will listen to him. God further states this with certainty. God has been rejected for over 400 years and He has been rejected over and over repeatedly. Moses was rejected only once.

He also states that Pharaoh will reject their requests. This again with certainty. With God nothing is uncertain. God knows exactly what needs to be done, what will be done, and the results. 'I am concerned', 'I will bring', 'They will listen', 'Pharaoh will deny', 'I will smite', 'You will go out', 'You will not go out empty handed.'

Bible doctrine is certainty. It is never uncertain nor ambiguous. The world is full of uncertainty and fuzzy philosophy. Yet people still reject God and His certainty, and embrace the world with all its fog.

Even when the Hebrews leave Egypt, they will leave with 400 years of wages. They will not take it unilaterally, but they are to ask, and much of the wealth of Egypt will be given to them.

There should be nothing more clear in the life of any believer. God states the facts, gives us choices, lets us know the repercussions of our choices, has given us many examples in history demonstrating the realities of our decisions. Yet people still reject or merely ignore God, or ask for further proof. Even Moses is not convinced yet. What will it take to convince you?

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
