Ecclesiastes 3:16-17

Lesson # Eccl. 3:16-17
Study Material - Eccl. 3:16-17

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Eccl. 3:16-17

16 Furthermore, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness, and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness. 17 I said to myself, 'God will judge both the righteous man and the wicked man,' for a time for every matter and for every deed is there.

Man is mortal, not immortal. Man did not create himself. Man did not come into being by some accident and thus has earned the right to self direct himself and his destiny.

Only in a source of perfection is there absence of sin. Man is not perfection. Only in a source of perfection is there fair judgment. Man is not perfection. God is that only source of perfect righteousness (no sin) and perfect justice (perfect fairness). Only God has access to all the facts and Only God views things with perfect objectivity. Man has a tendency to be subjective, biased, prejudiced in some form or another.

In this world there are two kinds of people - believers in Jesus Christ and unbelievers (those who have rejected Christ as God and man and savior of the world).

In this world there are varying degrees of believers. Those who are absolutely positive toward Gods word and pursue it with a passion to gain knowledge and wisdom. This is by far a very small minority of people. There are also those who absolutely reject Bible teaching throughout their life. They most likely started out believing in Christ (obviously) and probably while they were young, then they became disillusioned, or angry, or for some reason simply lost interest in God and ignored Him in the remainder of their lives. And , of course, there are all those believers that fall in between with varying degrees of attitude toward God. The first three chapters of Revelation delves into these various attitudes of unbelievers.

Also, there are two types of righteousness. Gods righteousness and mans righteousness. Gods righteousness is related to His sinless perfection while mans righteousness is a relative righteousness and related to mans human good production from his sin nature.

Man can acquire Gods righteousness by first believing in Christ and through that salvation faith, God imputes His divine righteousness to man. Gods righteousness in man, functions when man is in fellowship and is advancing to maturity through his daily Bible study.

So now with this groundwork laid we see that God will for a certainty judge the righteous as well as the wicked. Those who have some spiritual growth whether little or much, will be judged (evaluated) by God after their resurrection. Note that there are several resurrections which have and will take place in history. Christ's being the first and only resurrection thus far to date. The rapture will be the next. See the resurrection chart on the Index page.

The unbelievers will receive their final judgment at the Great White Throne at the end of human history, at the end of the Millennium.

The record of every event, every thought, every decision, every action taken by man, or not taken by man (sometimes not doing something can be just as bad as doing something), all these are recorded in heaven. God has all the facts of history.

So here we have yet another certainty. Judgment! And we again have absolutely no control over its happening. We do however, have control over which judgment we will be participating in - the unbelievers judgment or the believers judgment. We (believers only) also have control over the outcome of our judgment. We can control our individual outcomes by either studying Bible doctrine and therefore qualifying for those additional blessings and rewards for eternity because we have advanced in our spiritual life, or we can lose these rewards through ignoring our spiritual growth and in effect becoming just like the animals of this planet (see the next couple of verses), and having little or nothing to show for our life here on earth.

We always have a choice. Do we learn from what we have read thus far in this chapter and continue in our Bible study? Or, do we reject the principles taught in these previous verses and decide that we can do just as good on our own? Which do you suppose is the fool???

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
