Eccl. 3:2
2 A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.
Just as God declares, through Solomon, that there is a time for everything, then He goes ahead to describe various aspects in our lives. We as humans of course hear that there is a time for everything, but then some of us begin to question with our list.
God has already declared 'everything', but we always have to get our two cents worth in there. Well what about this? Yes, there is a time for this. There is a specified time for everything. Well what about that? Yes there is a specified time for that. There is a specified time for everything. Well what about.... And the little light bulb just doesn't quite get lit up in the old brain.
Man has been questioning the obvious since Adam and Eve, and then coming up with the weirdest conclusions as well. The most obvious thing in life is its beginning and its end - birth and death. The most obvious question is what happens after death. So man has speculated on his own. Disregarding God and the scriptures, and man has sought answers from rocks, trees, astronomical objects. Man has fashioned idols then bowed down to them. Man has even rejected God altogether and concluded that man came from mush therefore man has no future.
There are several beginnings, however. The most obvious is mans birth. But the angels had a beginning in that they were created, all of them, in an instant of time. The universe had its beginning, in an instant of time. The earth had its death and then its new birth. Its reconstruction in six days, and on the seventh day God rested. Man of course came on to the scene on the sixth day.
We have our rebirth which followed our spiritual demise, spiritual death. And our rebirth comes when we believe in Jesus Christ, wherein we receive a regenerated human spirit which establishes a mechanism for our interaction with God. There are charts on the Bible Study Index page covering the souls of believers and unbelievers.
We have our death, our physical death which sets the stage for our resurrection at some point in time in the future. And this is yet another beginning. The universe as we know it will die, or be destroyed by God, then there will be a final beginning, which will be our eternal state in a new universe.
There are many deaths. Of course physical death is the most obvious, but there is a spiritual death which Adam received when he disobeyed God. Adam was created body, soul, and spirit. He lost his spirit in the Garden, and did not receive it back until he believed in the promised savior to come. Just as we are saved by believing in Jesus Christ. Adam of course looked forward in time, as we look back in time to the Cross.
There is sexual death as we advance in our physical years. There is the second death, which unbelievers will receive at the last judgment, the Great White Throne. We as believers will not be present at that judgment. That will be a bad time for those who have rejected Christ in their lives, having never believed in Him at any point in their lives.
There is a time for planting and harvesting. Man can do these things, but God alone controls birth and death. Man doesn't make anything grow really. We just place seeds in the ground and watch and wait. Then sooner or later there is a harvest and we go our and pick what is there. God does all of the work in all of these things. When you really look deep into life, man is not very self sustaining. God brings all the weather, the rain and such. God brings all the seasons, spring, summer, fall and harvest times. Man did not invent the seeds in this world. Though now days we are playing with genetics, but we are just reorganizing things that are still already there.
Notice also that nothing is left to chance. No mush being struck by lightening and turning by accident into fish, then monkeys, then man, or even mush to weeds to roses. Everything has a definite beginning, existence and termination. The seasons cycle around the year and give us planting schedules as well as harvest schedules.
Our life has its schedules too. We are born and have an opportunity to advance to spiritual maturity. God sews the seeds of salvation when we believe in Christ. He also sprinkles Bible doctrine on us throughout our lives. Some of us capture it and keep it and grow, while others shed it like rain water. God harvests us when His timing is right.
And even more than this, God plants nations, and spheres of power. He also takes them away. Id there anything in life that is left to chance? Well yes, sort of. When you reject your Bible study, the you expose your life to the jungle style of life. In that jungle you have no assurance as to how your life will go from day to day. If you understood Gods word, then you would know that your definite end will be misery and doom. But then in the jungle you do not have an understanding of Gods word, wince you rejected it. By being positive to God you begin to learn how life is put together. You learn that your life does not have to be a roll of the dice with uncertainty everyday of the year.
Observing life around you, should bring you to the conclusion that there is a God, that there is a salvation, that there is a spiritual life available to you. It is just that consistent daily Bible study, that will separate you from all of those weird concepts that exist out there in the world.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
