Ecclesiastes 3:1
Lesson # Eccl. 3:1
Study Material - Eccl. 3:1
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Eccl. 3:1
1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven--
Appointed, 'zenan', a time, a season, specific schedule. Everything, 'kol', whole, all, complete, any, all. This should say a lot to those who are positive about Bible doctrine There is nothing in life that God does not know about, nothing in history that God does not know about. When you know all things that will occur in history, then you have a definite advantage in making any and all decisions regarding any choices one might have.
Jesus Christ is God. God controls history. God is omniscient and knows everything that will happen or could happen in history. God also has foreknowledge which we describe as knowing all things that will actually occur in history. In eternity past God knew all the possibilities in history, given all the infinite variables and combinations of decisions that are possible to make in history. For example, He could have given you life in another century, under different circumstances, and He would know what the outcome of your life would be, given those specific circumstances.
At some point God decided on a specific set of decisions that He would make. We call those the decrees of God. The decrees are the set parameters of history. In them He decided when you would be born. And of course He decided everyone else's birth time as well. Knowing all the people who would be alive in the world during your life time, knowing everyone's thoughts, decisions, and how these all interact with you personally, then God selected this time as the best time for you to live, and the most advantageous time for you to be alive in the world.
God knew what technologies would exist, what your environment would be, what your circumstances in life would be, what decisions you would make and what decisions and actions everyone in life would make and do. Thus He was able to coordinate your entire life without interfering in your freedom to make your independent choices from day to day as you live out your life.
For example, if you are a negative type, then He knew that you would be living in a flood zone and as such that a flood would occur in the precise moment of your life to discipline you. He would and does know all the weather patterns and forecasts better than any weatherman. He knows all the economic trends that will occur in history and their impact on you. If you are a positive believer, then God would have known when you needed income, customers, medical attention, relief from problems, etc. This list of events that can and will occur in your life is extensive, and not one if them will come as a surprise to God, because He foreknew all of them, without exception. Thus He did what no one else could have done for you. He took your best interest and placed you in the best possible position in history, which would most benefit you.
At any other time in history, you probably would have been miserable and would have never survived. Of course that is speculation, but God states here quite clearly. There is a season, and time, predetermined, for everything in this universe.
One of the things we all strive for in life is security, stability, and confidence in our current life, and in our future. We can gain all of these by merely being faithful in our Bible study and advancing in our spiritual life. Of course we can always reject God and go our own way, too. But regardless of the decisions we make in life, God never coerces us in any of them. Nor does He cause any of them. We should not take the attitude that everything is predetermined and just sit back on our porch and wait for life to pass by. There is still a responsibility and an accountability factor in life.
We are all held accountable for the decisions we make in life. God reveals to us the repercussions of the decisions we make. So no one has any excuses for the results in their life. We have seen many passages that reveal to us the consequences of out thoughts, decisions, and actions. To be negative is to invite disaster into our lives. To be positive toward God is to secure blessings and prosperity and more in our life.
The decisions we make can turn us into our own worst enemy, or they can secure us the greatest destiny possible. God knows the results of your life, but you decide them. Stick with your Bible study, regardless of how bored you might be with some 'dull' passage. Do not seek only the most exciting passages, though they may be entertaining and get your emotional responses up, but learn and gain from the entire Bible. Every passage has something to teach. Just as we have learned from this passage. There are no accidents in life. There are no tragedies in life. God did not overlook anything in your life or anyone else's for that matter. All things work together for good.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
