Dan. 12:8-10
Lesson # Dan. 12:8-10
Study Material - Dan. 12:8-10
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Dan. 12:8-10
8 As for me, I heard but could not understand; so I said, 'My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?' 9 And he said, 'Go your way, Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. 10 'Many will be purged, purified and refined; but the wicked will act wickedly, and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.
Daniel hears the prophecy, but lacks the hindsight of history that we have. His understanding of all the events, the tools, the transportation, the technologies, the empires that have come and gone, and so forth, can't possibly match our current day's understanding.
We today have seen more history. We have seen the entire planet populated, and have even seen the history that Daniel has prophesied (Greek and Roman empires, and the detailed history of the broken Greek empire, etc.). Not having seen this history it is not unusual for Daniel to be in the dark concerning it all, at least as far as the details.
Even to us, the details are 'concealed', and 'sealed' and will remain so until the end times when all the details will become self evident because the circumstances of history will reveal this prophecy in all its detail - specific nations, powers, specific leaders, and so forth.
Concealed, 'catham', closed, hidden, shut up until the appropriate circumstances make its contents discoverable. Sealed, 'chatham', make an end, finished, completed as a final draft of a document is the final writing and therefore unchangeable.
As stated before in a previous verse, this prophecy is now revealed and will not change. God does not cause history, but He does know history prior to its occurrence. Simply revealing it does not make God responsible for history. Man causes his own history, and by the grace of God, is prevented from destroying himself. This self destruction prevention has probably occurred several times in history. We probably won't know how close we have been to it, self destruction, until we get to heaven and find out what history was really like.
The circumstances of time will make these prophecies clear to those peoples who will live the events. We are close to these events obviously. The passage of so much time makes it obvious that we are closer. We just do not know how much more history needs to occur before this 'end time' period of the Tribulation comes around.
Until then, verse ten teaches us that life will go on. People will either be interested in doctrine or they won't. People will continue in their spiritual advancement or they will pursue a live of evil (a life without or with very little of the influence of Bible doctrine).
Two things come out of verse ten. First, those people who are interested in Bible doctrine will advance through their spiritual life in phases. Herein referred to as purging, the act of believing in Christ, when the control of sin and death are purged from the life - that is salvation. The second phase of the spiritual life is the purification phase. We call that spiritual growth, or the renewing of the mind (as Paul describes it in the New Testament). This purification occurs during our daily Bible study as we replace those worldly thoughts with the content of Bible doctrine. We replace the opinions of the world with those opinions of God. This in turn helps us advance in our spiritual life. As we grow up spiritually, then we are tested, as the metal is tested in the forge. The impurities are burned out and the better metal remains, stronger, and more usable. We will always face difficulties in life. These can and should be looked at as tests of faith, or opportunities for strengthening our faith.
On the other hand, there are people who are not interested in Bible doctrine. They are naive and will not understand anything of the spiritual realm. Prophecies will always be closed to them. They will never understand them not even recognize them when they come to pass. Such is the life of the unbeliever (obviously no spiritual life), and even the believer who is negative and disinterested in Gods Word.
Understanding in life requires a foundation of knowledge. Spiritual understanding requires a foundation of Bible doctrine in the soul. There is only one method of getting Bible doctrine into the soul, and that is through the daily study routine you establish for yourself. There are rules for this study. And the predominant rule is that we must always be in fellowship when studying Bible doctrine. Of course we come to learn that we need to be in fellowship all of the time in our life in order to continue to be 'in the presence' of God perpetually. Fellowship is our means of being in Gods presence. No one can approach God in an unclean state, and sin in the life is unclean, therefore one needs to clean ones self up and that cleansing process is the concept of confession. We have studied that in detail and there is even a study on the Index page on Fellowship. The concept of fellowship is taught in the Levitical offerings, and the mechanics of fellowship are taught in 1 John.
In short, anyone who does not take the time to learn Bible doctrine, will never see life in all its true perspective. They will be locked in the view from the world's perspective only. Only those who take the time to study Gods Word, will gain insight and discernment of life in all its forms.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
